4-3-24 Tigger - stray cat very injured

Extremely urgent! Someone called us and said they found this cat that seem to be injured and we agreed to take it. We got it to the Foster and its legs seem to be injured and it appears not to be able to use its back legs. We are arranging to get it to West Innes Animal Hospital this afternoon and we could certainly use some donations as we owe them a lot of money right now. We do not know much but she or he is crying out in pain when the legs are touched so hopefully that means there's feeling in them. The cat is super sweet so we really want to help.

4-3-24 Dax - very sick kitty

**UPDATE** The bill is $840. We’ve had $200 donated. They have new expenses now with special food & supplies. Please continue to share so we can try to help them out a little more.
YOUNG COUPLE NEEDS HELP FOR THIS GUY WHO WAS ALMOST EUTHANIZED
In 2021 we pulled this guy from one of the worst streets on our route. He was a mess, had a flea allergy, always dirty and beat up and was constantly bullied by people and other cats. He had an attitude and rightfully so. He had been on our route for years. He was adopted by a young couple and once he learned to trust, he became the sweetest cat ever. We got a call Saturday that he was at the emergency vet with a poor prognosis and euthanasia was likely. In less than a week he tanked and they suspected diabetes as well as an underlying condition. With everything he had been through on the streets, it was too soon. Dr. Jaax is their family vet and we were able to reach her. He has been hospitalized since Saturday night and is doing much better. Thank you to Dr. Jaax for taking on this emergency to save him.
They paid 2 different vet bills Saturday (ER & vet that sent them there since Jaax was closed that day).  We would pay it if we had it but with so many we’re caring for we don’t. He’s still hospitalized and it’s estimated his bill will be $700-$900. He will get to go home this week to his family that loves him and that’s all that matters.

4-3-24 Warrior - very sick kitty

meowsquad.nyc: Update on Warrior: We have been in touch with Warrior’s amazing medical team. They are working on diagnostics today to figure out the exact nature of the problem and how to fix it.He will need at least 1 but more likely 2 surgeries along with an orthopedist and a neurological consult. The main concern is his bladder, and how best to move it back into place. So that’s what they are working on first. The secondary concern is his bones and if they will require pins or if letting it heal on its own is best. The injury is in the sacrum so amputation isn’t an option. The third concern is if he will have use of his bladder once all is done. He might need manual expression, which we have experience with but we hope that is not the case.

They are going to do the preliminary test today. We are getting closer to our goal but not quite there in terms of donations and thank everyone who has donated, shared and boosted. Warrior thanks you.We mentioned it in our story but wanted to mention it here as well that a very kind donor has agreed to match the first 10 $100 donations (or up to $100 if your donation exceeds that) and she is still kindly honoring that as our donations for Warrior go on.As you would expect, surgeries, consults, hospital stays it all adds up big time on top of the expenses for the other 50 cats in our immediate care right now.

4-4-24  Injured/sick stray cat

Community Cat Care:
At Wilson’s ER vet right now. I was contacted this morning about a very sick cat in the neighborhood who wasn’t moving out of the street for cars. I headed over and found the cat immediately and got a trap set. I spoke with the homeowner and they are going to help try to secure the cat today while I’m working and contact me once they have him. Please send prayers that we are able to secure this sick boy. He had shoestrings of drool hanging when I found him and you can tell he really doesn’t feel good at all. I am pretty confident he will be secured and then we will need to head to the vet (most likely ER vet). If you would like to donate toward helping this guy, and all the community cats I try to help, donation links are below. There is one other community cat I am actively trying to locate right now who also looks very, very sick. She will also need to be vetted immediately upon securing her.

4-6-24 two features

We have two fetaures so far today; the first is that we bought a tru catch restraint feral cat trap for Community Cats . This is the same group who we just helped with the black kitty who ended up passing away. They really need a restraint trap to help medicate another feral that is really sick.
The second is I sent $100 to Rocking R Ranch and Rescue. They desperately need several thousand dollars to save a young horse who is very very ill. If anyone follows this group, they are the ones who recued Asombro who was another young horse who was kept in a sling for over a year. Thankfully he is doing better and his previous owner has been arrested.

This is the group if you want to follow them: https://www.facebook.com/rockingrrescue
They are great!!!

4-9-24  Stray cat needs vet for mouth

Hey everyone, if anyone can please help get this cat treatment it would be greatly appreciated. My brother has 5-6 cats he feeds everyday and for the past few months one of these cats hasn’t been able to to eat or chew anything at all. We were able to get a vet come check her out from a far and he prescribed her some antibiotics (I think) which we put in the soup. This cat has really bad pain in its mouth and literally is starving and unable to eat anything other than soup

4-10-24 Huge medical need for many cats

I was asked to take cats from a fellow rescue person, who is dying from cancer, the plan was a couple a month, last week she declined rapidly and was emergency placed into hospice. The cats are all considered senior, 5 and older They all have stomatitis, some so bad blood is dripping from their mouths, ear mites like I've never seen and today one we took wasn't even fixed, so no I am praying it wasn't a lie and the females are actually fixed..I asked before I agreed, were they healthy, was told yes just needed vaccines, and here we are, this will bury me, I still have so many to get fixed. 4 have been seen, 12 more to go, thank you so very much, I am truly grateful. Due to the medical conditions of the cats that were just removed, and all the other cats that need placement, the rescue is closed to intake indefinitely. We are in urgent need of donations for the 16 cats from the location we are working at.

4-14-24 Two very sick cats

IMAGINE BEING BLIND, HOMELESS & SICK 2 HOMELESS CATS THAT NEED YOUR HELP😿
We were contacted about 2 different cases on the same day and both dire. Last week we posted for help for 5 newer rescues needing surgery. 2 days later we end up with 2 very complicated cases. The girl on the left was posted on NKY Lost & Found pages. She came from an hour south and could barely walk. Dr. Jaax doesn’t know how she’s alive. She said she may be one of the toughest cats she’s seen. We’re calling her Sparta. She’s been hospitalized since Monday. Here’s what we know so far:•2yrs old and just 3lbs  •Extremely dehydrated
•Worst earmite infestation Dr. Jaax has ever seen. So bad her ear drums may be ruptured.
•One of the worst roundworm infestations she’s seen. So bad it’s caused the hardening of her intestines and the ultrasound showed nothing but roundworms. •Horners syndrom. That’s what’s causing the enlarged left pupil. •Middle/inner ear infection + possible meningitis •Retinitis =central blindness. Her limited vision is due to her brain not being able to process what it’s looking at. There’s a disconnect between the eyes and brain. •Upper Respiratory infection •Either toxoplasmosis or a fungal disease Despite how much she suffered on the street being nearly blind and unable to find food, she is sweet and her combo test was negative. She will be with Dr. Jaax through the weekend and likely into next week. The boy on the right, who we named Jackson, went to Harrison Animal Hospital Monday. He ended up on a porch in Covington and could barely move. There is no pelvic fracture or dislocation. He is Fiv- but Felv+, anemic, bloodwork has some unusual numbers and an ultrasound showed his kidneys are abnormal in structure. ‼️The struggles homeless animals go through are inconceivable. They don’t have anyone and need you to give them a chance.

4-14-24 Beethoven - parvo puppy

Hi! We are in dire emergency vet care. I rescued 3 pups April 1st, got them vaccinated and microchipped that following Saturday. Sunday 1 experienced symptoms & died Wednesday, the other followed suit a few hours later. Beethoven is currently fighting for his life as we speak with parvo. We have been trying everything we possibly can to save him but now we need extra help.

4-16-24 Spitfire - kitty with broken jaw

A HOMELESS CAT WITH A BROKEN JAW AND GETTING HELP MEANT BEING TAKEN AWAY FROM THE ONLY “MOM” HE’S KNOWN ‼️He is at the vet and waiting on funds to be raised so he can have surgery‼️ We have every logical reason for saying no. Spitfire is just 1yr old and from Hart County, KY. This homeless boy was lucky enough to find Susan, who has been caring for homeless cats in her county for years. She had him TNR’d through Alley Cat Alley and has been feeding him every day since (approx 6mos). Spitfire showed up over a week ago injured and having trouble eating. She took him to her vet and learned his bottom jaw is broken which could be causing some of his respiratory issues. She didn’t have the funds for surgery so paid for the appointment and medication and took him home.

Susan has always paid for her colony cats out of her own pocket (even vetting when needed) but her husband is going through some major health issues and finances are tight. She contacted us but we couldn’t do it. With all of our own needs it would hurt us financially to take this on. Not to mention that every time we post for someone else, it takes away from fundraising for our needs which we are depend on. Susan contacted KY Humane Society, Red Rover, local vets, rescues and every organization who might be able to offer financial assistance. Either they didn’t have funding, didn’t respond or the one rescue near her who offered to help would make her surrender him. She didn’t want to part with him but it had been a week, he was struggling and she was going to surrender him if it meant getting him the help he needs. This didn’t sit well with us. We look at the homeless cats we care for as our own so we understand the bond. There are so many animals waiting for homes, shelters are overcrowded and taking him away from someone who cared enough to have him fixed and feeds him everyday is wrong. ‼️THAT ISN’T RESCUE‼️

SHE LEFT HER HOME AT 5am AND DROVE 3 HOURS THIS MORNING TO DROP HIM OFF TO DR. JAAX. 👈🏼That deserves all caps because we often deal with people who won’t drive 20min to help their pet of 8 years. She is now making the 3hr drive back to Hart County. ***Spitfire is sitting at Jaax now. She will make sure he’s comfortable until the funds are raised for his surgery and hoping she can do it this week. We’d be lying if we said this didn’t stress us out but we’ve always believed if things are done for the right reason they work out. That’s what we’re counting on. Dr. Jaax estimated $800 without examining him but that didn’t account for hospitalization or meds. We’ve had several recent emergencies and know people can only do so much. Just sharing this post helps because every $5 and $10 donation adds up.

4-25-24 Fiona - stray with broken jaw

While doing Tnr we trapped a young girl that we named Fiona Rose. She appears to have a broken jaw. After spending the last week with us we have confirmed that she is in fact a feral kitty.
She has a Dr appointment this morning at 930 am to be sedated in order to get x rays and an exam from the doctor. We are asking for any help you guys can give for this appointment. During tnr We keep running across many kitties that need extra help and it's taking a big toll on the rescue.

4-30-24 Tom - cat is either poisoned or has blockage

I have been working on this for 2 days now. This poor cat is very very ill. Non-stop vomiting since friday. The first guess was tea tree oil poisoning but it now looks like a blockage. The lady who has him is a student and cannot get care credit and has alresady sold everything she can for his bills. The Dollar Club helped with $350 so far to get labs done He has been getting IV fluids everyday. but he vomits up any meds given. Since this is a low cost clinic they had to send out the labs for review. We should know today whether he has a blockage or not and if so, he will need emergency surgery as this has been going on for several days now. We won't know until later as this is in the West Coast and they are 3 hours behind us. I will let everyone kow as soon as I can because we may need to do a fast and huge fundraiser for this.
