8-1-19 Injured bobcat - hit by car

For Fox Sake Wildlife Rescue: This juvenile bobcat, part of a big family that lives at Enterprise South Nature Park, arrived here late tonight. According to the volunteer who transported him to us, he was hit on a 20-mile-per-hour road. The driver didn’t stop or even slow down, and seemed to have hit this kitten on purpose. Faramir here isn’t likely to live to see dawn. We’re doing our best and we’re managing his pain, and if— by some miracle— he makes it to the morning, he’ll be getting X rays to see just how many fractures he has and what we can do to treat them. We’ve counted four broken bones that are visible to the naked eye, and that’s just the beginning. One of his eyes has also ruptured, and he has a very severe concussion. No animal should have to suffer like this because of human cruelty. Please brake for wildlife. They have thoughts, feelings, and families just like you and just like your pets. Faramir is suffering and his mother is missing him. This shouldn’t have happened.  ***UPDATE***  “How?”

That was the first word out of my mouth this morning. When I had last seen this bobcat at 1:30 am, he was fully unconscious and unresponsive. His body temperature was falling and his heart rate was slowing, and there was nothing I could do. I cried. I knew he wouldn’t make it. When I went to collect his body, though? There’s no body, but a live, angry, fully conscious Faramir ready to rip my throat out. I’m thrilled. I’m working on getting Faramir in with a veterinary surgeon immediately. There were, unfortunately, no vets who handle wildlife who could treat him last night and none who can squeeze him into their schedule today, but I’m leaving no stone unturned while I try to find help repairing his broken jaw. In the meantime, I’m working on managing his pain and not getting mauled. Faramir’s care will cost hundreds, if not thousands. I don’t get paid for what I do and can’t shoulder these costs out of pocket without help. Can you donate toward Faramir’s care so I can give him a fighting chance?   **UPDATE**  found a vet and on our way.

8-6-19  Little Dog is very sick

Little Tails Rescue, Inc. is asking for donations:
Although we are closed to intake, we saw a very sad post about a little dog that has been sick for several days and vomiting and the owner can not afford any vet care. She was trying to sell some furniture but had not raised any funds. We need to help this little dog and senior lady. She is on her way to Miami Animal Clinic. Donations can be called directly into the vet office under Little Tails Rescue. We really need the help please! Thank you.

8-11-19  Rocko - dog with broken femur (our 1000 feature)

Just days after being adopted poor Rocko was found stray having lost weight AND a broken leg. He was taken to county ac in Bakersfield where he was stuck for a 10 day chip hold. Tomorrow he dies because his adopters chose to abandon him. We are going to get him out through a rescue friend but he NEEDS A PLAN. We know this dog (top left pic is my before photo of him from @californiacityanimalshelter) we know he likes dogs and children and he's so very sad.  **UPDATE** Rockos leg is, as we already knew, broken at the femur. He has such a jagged break the only options are Ortho (which we can't afford) or amputation (which we are getting close to affording at 2200).That's if he has surgery Monday. We NEED to get a plan or funding together for him.  Ortho is an option and I'd absolutely rather save his leg but the shards are sharp and his artery is and has been in jeopardy for all this time. If the money for Ortho came in quick id happily try but we haven't raised the 2200 for amputation yet so I'm not holding my breath. Ideally a rescue would step in but we've not had much luck there

8-14-10 Simone - rescue kitty needing tail amputation

Dumped/Stray Animal Rescue-Simone desperately needs your help. This baby girl is the sweetest, most playful kitten you can imagine, which is amazing considering she’s likely in constant pain. At some point and for a very short time, this little one was someone’s pet. We found her abandoned, alone outside and worse yet, her tail has been dislocated (likely by abuse) and will need to be completely amputated. She paws at anyone that walks by her cage desperate for attention. Despite her discomfort, she just wants to be cuddled and pet. Unfortunately, we cannot look for a family for Simone or relieve her constant pain until we can raise enough money to pay for her surgery. Please, please consider making a donation for Simone’s surgery. There’s nothing worse than seeing little ones in need and not having the money to help.

8-21-19 Lucy - A tnr'd cat with a lot of medical issues

I am hoping to get some help for a 10 year old cat. I do tnr and rescue in Ohio and Kentucky. I recently took in a 10 year old cat that was living outside of a gas station. She has two different ear infections that she is on treatment for. She is missing half her teeth and has a jaw infection and needs the remaining teeth removed ASAP. She also needs a ear polyp removed and some black growths lasered off from her ear but I was not able to obtain an estimate for that part due to the vet not being able to do it. That being said, the mouth is more urgent and is priority. It’s been a bad year for medical cases, like it always is in rescue and I’m taking in two kids about to become homeless so I need whatever help I can get for this cat until I can find a rescue willing To take her. Miracle house animal rescue has also agreed to help.

Whiskers, Inc.:   DONATIONS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY Friday night a girl witnessed kittens being thrown into the creek in Coney. The person threw a box over the bridge by the dollar store. It was raining and the box washed quickly down the creek. This one somehow got out. He is injured. Not really moving or standing. He is eating. But is in bad shape . She could not find the others. Or he has little chance of making it. Whiskers, Inc. I cannot vet him without donations and I'm trying to get more details. TDC sent $100 to the vet so he could be seen immediately!  **UPDATE** Update.  Need donations for emergency surgery.

8-27-19 Cora - kitten needs leg surgery

I still need to raise money for Cora’s surgery tomorrow! Cora’s left rear leg is shattered, and as you can see in the picture it just sticks straight out. Cora is a baby, at 12 weeks old, and doesn’t deserve the start to life she’s been given. After Cora’s surgery and recovery, she will be certified as a therapy cat, and once the rescue is up and running, she’ll meet lots of kids that need extra love!

8-31-19  Trouper - Kitten needing leg amputation

URGENT in Troup, TX‼️ This kitten was found by a good Samaritan with an injured/infected leg. He is in need of medical attention ASAP. The finder is not certain exactly what happened or what the cause of the injury is, and it is too painful for the kitten for her to thoroughly investigate but she says there is definitely a pungent odor which would suggest it is severely infected. The finder says it looks like a cut, but there are too many unknowns to determine how severe or what else might be wrong, but they are not in a position to take him to a vet and get him medical care he needs. He needs a rescue ASAP. He is a few months old, able to eat dry kibble, and is sweet, but definitely not feeling good.  **UPDATE** I am with O'Malley Alley Cat - Tyler rescue. We have taken this kitty under our wing. He is staying at our vet overnight, getting IV fluids and antibiotics to be ready to have his injured leg amputated tomorrow.
