2-2-20 Bugsey Stray cat with horrible injury in the ear
Hello. I’m requesting veterinary assistance for one of my outside colony cats. All 12 are fixed, some are feral and a few are friendly. Bugsey has some kind of growth/injury in his ear. It has a bloody drainage. I can’t afford to take him to the vet to see what it is. We’ve had 1.5 years of one financial hardship after the other. My husband just went back to work last Monday and we’re going to be struggling to catch up on bills. Our mortgage is 3 months behind. I’ll be taking Bugsey to urgent care in Sewell NJ. I applied for Scratchpay/Carecredit and was denied.

A poor stray street dog of Egypt with his front let missing and bone exposed. He desperately needs help. They were able to sedate him and capture him and he is awaiting funds to perform surgery.

2-4-20 Weruva pet food distribution
Weruva Pet Foods was donating a pallet of cat food for any 501c3 who was able to go to Maryland and pick it up. I spoke with some other local small rescues and we all decided to go together and rent a truck to pick up as much as they would allow. They gave us 5 pallets. Three other rescue groups each got a pallet and The Dollar Club took 2 pallets. We all split the cost for the expenses and my husband and I went down to get it yesterday. (Thats why we were closed). Each pallet ended up costing $97.24 (Final tally isn't finished yet but it is expected to be less that this estimate ) for the truck rental, Insurance, gas and tolls. The Dollar Club donated their pallets to 4 feral cat colonies in my area. So for $195.00 of Dollar Club money, we were able to distribute 108 cases of food!! Weruva estimates that to be about $10,000 worth of their premium cat foot. The first colony if for a woman who feeds a few hundred cats throughout Allentown and Mertztown. The second went to the Homeless Camp in Allentown (this is the group of men who take care of many many cats in a colony near their encampment). The third went to a man from Macungie that feeds 16 outside cats that his neighbors have thrown away and the 4th is going to another colony in Barto. So a great many cats are going to have a lavish feast with much higher quality than they are used too thanks to Weruva!!!
2-5-20 Hobo kitty with stomatitis
Hearthside Cats, Inc.: We fell in love with Hobo the moment we laid eyes on him five years ago; a raggedy, transient feral who would pass through our neighborhood. It took nearly three years to catch him and bring him into our care, but it was worth every second. A month ago, we brought Hobo home, believing him to be terminal lymphoma or end stage liver failure. He had lost nearly 6 pounds, was completely yellow, and unable to clot. We were crushed. With supportive care, Hobo seemed to rally, but we were nervous to get our hopes up. He then began to suffer from debilitating stomatitis a few weeks ago, for which the only treatment would be a full mouth dental extraction. But a terminal diagnosis or an inability to clot would prevent Hobo from being considered a candidate for surgery. What we should have known then was that Hobo was a fighter, having spent the first half of his life surviving as a lone feral. His bloodwork had improved and with the help of generous donations, we went anxiously for an ultrasound last week. We couldn't believe it. The ultrasound showed no visible signs of cancer or liver failure and Dr. Homco suspects that he may have had an acute illness like pancreatitis or hepatic lipidosis. We sent out two additional blood tests to determine whether he could go under for surgery and held our breath for results. In disbelief, his coagulation test came back in normal range and we were told he could be scheduled for surgery. We are often asked why we would invest additional funds into one cat that could be used to save others. The sad reality of rescue is that we will never be able to save them all, as much as we wish that were possible. But 29 years ago, our rescue began with one woman working to save 'one cat at a time' and that value and appreciation for every life; even the feral, injured, and ill; is still at the core of who we are. A dental is a significant expense for a small shelter, but when the world had given up on this cat, we just couldn't. Not when he was willing to fight and when surgery could offer him years more of a life that he deserves. We just couldn't let him go. We know that we have asked for your help recently, but if you could help us fight for Hobo, it would mean so much to us. We will need to raise approximately $2,000 for a full mouth extraction and a second chance for Hobo.

2-6-20 Another colony feeder needing help with food
Monica Cunha: Yesterday I was at ShopRite in Elizabeth NJ and there was a Lady buying some cat food and saying she was sad because she could not buy any more than that to feed some stray cats she’s trying taking care of. She told me she’s having a very hard time buying so much cat food and she can’t keep up I got her phone number and I promised her I would try and get her some donations so she could keep feeding kitties. Very nice lady! So here I am again asking for cat food donations to help another person keep up with her good work feeding those homeless hungry cats out there.

2-7-20 Oliver - attacked by a dog
I am sorry for always having to ask for donations but there are so many animals in need. Tonight, Oliver needs your help. He is a 10 year old Shih Tzu who was attacked by a larger dog and has a broken lower jaw. Both dogs live in the same household. Oliver took a bone from the bigger dog and the bigger dog fought him to take the bone back. The family could not afford to take him to the emergency vet so I had to meet them there to see if there was something that I could do. Oliver’s jaw was hanging very low and to the side, he was bleeding a lot and could not breathe well. He was in a lot of pain. We asked them if they could just stabilize him and then we would bring him to the vet that he had seen before but the vet at the emergency clinic said Oliver really needed to go to the specialty hospital tonight. She insisted it had to be tonight. She said they could not manage the pain there. He received fluids, pain medicine, and bloodwork. The bill there was $319. We are now at Jupiter Pet Emergency and Specialty Center. Oliver is being examined in the back. He is probably going to be admitted. I know it is going to be expensive but I could not leave this poor dog without medical care. He is definitely going to need X-rays and surgery to repair his jaw. The family who owns Oliver is having problems deciding what to do. The man wants to put Oliver to sleep since they cannot afford the vet bills and the lady wants to see if he can be helped. She will try to help raise some funds but she cannot raise a lot. They live in a trailer in the middle of the fields west of 441 in Boynton Beach, FL and work as day laborers. 2-8-20 Maggie Cat with missing leg
Lucky Lives Cat Rescue ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ URGENT ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ Meet Maggie... She was rescued yesterday by a caring woman who noticed she was injured and struggling. She took her home but could not keep her and ultimately had to take the cat back to where she found her 😢 She then posted on Facebook for help, and our very own foster extraordinaire, Mary Ellen Horner-Holton, went out late last night in that crazy weather with her big-hearted hubby and they found this poor, cold, scared and shaking girl in extreme pain from obvious infection 💔 Maggie is now at Delaware Valley Veterinary Hospital where they assessed her condition. Her front leg is missing from the elbow joint down, and the perfectly straight cut is highly suspicious that this was done at the hands of a sadistic individual 😡
We don’t know how long she has been in this state but the infection is a raging one and she needs our prayers 🙏🏻
As we had assumed, she needs surgery to amputate what’s left of her leg and it’s estimated to cost $1500-$2000.
Maggie is beautiful and she’s loving, even after what’s she’s gone through. To see her beautiful face, it’s just crushing to believe someone could hurt her. Please help by contributing to her care so we can get this baby all patched up and we can provide her the love, affection and attention she so desperately needs and deserves.

Begging for help tonight for Lulu! Christa Rae is a VETERAN & an amazing animal advocate who has helped our rescue and so many others with transports and volunteering at events...she really needs our help to help her pups tonight, especially Lulu! Our Veterinarian, Dr Megan Davis is doing everything possible for her and we are so grateful❤️🐾 Lulu can’t go home until this infection is under control Poor Lulu :( Those of you in the dog transport world in FL know of Christa Rae, she is amazing and has helped so many of us over the years...Lulu is her baby and she is hospitalized & suffering right now. Lulu has a serious UTI (urinary tract infection) & is peeing blood. She has a MRSA like staph infection and has pustules all over and has to wear a cone 24/7 to keep her from licking and chewing herself but she can still get to these areas :( She is in isolation at the vet and getting very strong meds for this now. They will do an ultrasound to see if she has stones. Between that and her skin and allergies, she is a mess and she is begging for relief. She is in pain and miserable. She also has an appt next week (2/13) with Dr Burkett, Allergist in Estero. If you are able to donate any amount it would be so greatly appreciated as Christa is a disabled Veteran and works hard but these unexpected expenses for her well cared for dogs hit hard when they do come up. She genuinely would appreciate every dollar!

2-18-2020 Lia - kitty needs a cat scan to determine what is wrong
Lia has been one of our rescues since she was about two months old and we have been trying to determine and correct her issue since then. We had her fixed she came through it perfectly then it looked like she had a hernia we took her back they said they don't fix hernias take her to our primary which of course we did. I told them to check her lungs before they did surgery they checked her lungs and they were all cloudy so they put her on antibiotics then checked her in 10 days put on different antibiotics checked her in 10 days still there sent me to a specialist and we went to the internist. She's had blood work numerous numerous x-rays and ultrasounds and an aspirit procedure that draws fluid out of the front of where her heart is and tested and they cannot figure out what it is. She's currently on Lasix to control the condition until they figure out what is going on. The cardiologist believes it is either a twisted lung lobe or a thymoma, both of which treatment is a special surgery but both very different. Therefore she needs a CT scan before surgery to see where they need to cut her and what kind of surgeon and hospitilization and after care is needed. Please donate whatever you can to help save Lia's life. Every dollar counts towards getting us the surgery to save her life. This cat scan and surgery are life-saving and there are no other options. They will either be removing a lung due to a twisted lung lobe or they will be removing a benign mass in front of her heart call the thymoma. The CAT scan is needed to determine which it is because it can't be determined by x-rays. A CAT scan must be done. Then they will do the surgery & Lia will get to live. Please please please help us. We have spent a lot of money on Lia and other rescue cats and we cannot afford this. Please donate what you can for Lia's sake. Thank you.

2-25-20 Sassy - dog hit by car and needs surgery
Baileys Way Rescue: Sassy was HIT BY A LARGE TRUCK LAST NIGHT & IS IN SERIOUS CONDITION at the Zephyrhills Vet Clinic! They have been so good to stabilize her and once out of the woods, she NEEDS SURGERY ASAP! She is shocky and weak, Thankfully, the person that hit her stopped to help! It wasn’t their fault by any means, she ran out in front of their truck. The person who hit her did stop and called animal control but they said it would be 4+ hours. So thankfully one of our adopters was there also & called her vet who came in at 7 on a Saturday night and opened up just for them to try and help! Much love to this vet! She needs surgery to put her intestines back in her abdominal cavity and seal it back up!!! We aren’t yet sure how much Sassy needs but the vet will do an estimate tomorrow when they are open. It is approx $20/day to stay at the vet's office and x-rays themselves are fairly expensive, she's got quite a bit of medication on board for pain, also antibiotics, fluids and for the vet to come in after hours on a Saturday. **Sassy was given away yesterday by her current owner and hours later this is what happened. Neither new owner (who we have yet to hear from) nor the previous owner can help her :( The former owner is surrendering her to Ashley tomorrow. Please note...Sassy is not in our rescue but we have been trying to find her a home or rescue for a couple years now & just did a plea as her Mommy is moving out of state next month and is not taking her...so on top of needing emergency vet care now, once healed, she will need a loving home or great rescue to take her in so please contact us if you can help!!! Thankfully on top of everything Ashley Stevens has already done, she will foster her while searching for placement! 2-26-20 Hospitalized kittens/mom
EMERGENCY RESCUE❤ Wilbur is three weeks old and has a severe upper respiratory infection. One of his siblings did not survive. We took Wilbur directly to Verona and Montclair Animal Hospitals and he is now settled in at home with antibiotics and a humidifier to help his breathing. We are also trying to bring the rest of his little family into our care. Please help if you can!
