2-2-21  Frozen - cat found frozen in snow

We received a message two hours ago about a kitty found frozen outside in the city. She was screaming and trying to dig a hole under a shed to keep warm. She is shaking from cold in this video. She is older, emaciated, severely dehydrated, very weak, has frost bitten ears and something weird going on with her fur. We have started her on fluids and are trying to regulate her body temperature. We need some prayers and positive energy please. We are hoping we aren’t too late. Thank you to the homeowner for not turning a blind eye to a kitty in need. She sure found the right home. I don’t think she would have made it overnight outside. She will head to the vet tomorrow. As always, we will need your help with donations. Thank you so much!  UPDATE** I have been up all night/day cuddling and closely watching the baby found frozen outside last night. He (it’s a boy) ate and tanked last night. This picture is how he slept next to me. Whenever I got up to do cat chores, he’d cry so loudly that I’d have to go back and comfort him. This morning I took his temp and it was extremely high. We rushed him to the vet and his bloodwork showed that he is severely dehydrated, which we knew. He will stay overnight for monitoring. He is a neutered male, no microchip, around 9-10 years old. This little angel has been struggling outside for some time. He is not only dehydrated but skinny with missing patches of fur, frost bite on both ears and infested with fleas. He had a family at some point. What happened that he is now in this condition, I don’t know. We are working with our friends at Hearthside Cats, Inc. on this rescue. We want to thank them for all their help last night and today. Thank you also to Kitten Korner Rescue, Inc. for their help this morning. I’m very fortunate to have other amazing rescuers guide me when needed. Please keep this baby boy in your thoughts as he’s not out of the woods just yet.

2-2-21 Hunter - kitty needs surgery

Hunter is a stray we started feeding about a year ago and he lives outside which he seems to love. A couple of days ago we posted locally because he hasn't been to the feeding station in over a week. And it wasn't like him to not show up..When we walked outside to leave he was in our front hedges screaming.😭😭 He has either been shot or run over and is in really bad shape!! We rushed him to our vet and they were stabilizing him and trying to get him ready for surgery!! These pics are from a few months ago..I couldn't take a picture of him because it was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! He literally has a giant hole in his abdomen where his intestines are hanging out of,and it's horribly abscessed with infection everywhere!!.His left back leg and paw are shattered too!! There's no telling how many days ago this happened and it took him to get back to us for help.. 😭😭 Under the circumstances we didn't ask for any estimate, just to to save him if possible. Dr Becky will be calling as soon as she knows more. He was in shock so the main focus is stabilizing him before he can go into surgery. THESE MEDICAL EXPENSES ARE SOMETHING THAT WE CAN'T COVER AND DEFINITELY NEED HELP WITH!!  **UPDATE 01/28 6:00 PM. Hunter is stable after she has to remove gangrene/abscessed tissue from his chest. She splinted his broken leg and broken foot but had to remove three toes that were totally crushed.Tomorrow morning she is going to open his abdomen and see what damage is there. He just wasn't stable enough for all of it right now.😭** **PLEASE SHARE FOR DONATIONS NEEDED!!*!💔  **UPDATE I 01/29 5:00pm I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH OUR VET AND HUNTER IS STILL DOING OKAY AND HE'S STABLE..WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO TO GET THE FUNDS NEEDED FOR HUNTER'S SURGERY..😭😭🆘🙏🙏SO PLEASE KEEP SHARING!!!!😭💔**SO WE NEED DONATIONS PLEASE!!💚💜❤️**UPDATE 01/29 11:00am** I JUST SPOKE WITH THE VET TECH AT ANGEL AND SHE SAID THAT HUNTER IS STABLE AND READY FOR HIS SECOND SURGERY AS SOON AS WE CAN GET FUNDING TO COVER HIS BILL!! WE ARE $1195 SHORT OF THE ESTIMATED COST OF $1400**(Much better than the $1600-$2000 we had thought it would be) ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!❤️💜💚

2-4-21  Russell  -  Stomatitis stray

Thank you for reading. I am trying to raise funds to cover the veterinary expenses for a friendly stray from my neighborhood. Russell is a super friendly and loving stray cat who showed up in my neighborhood early this summer. He decided to adopt me and now lives in my front yard. Because he hasn’t been looking so well and has stopped grooming, I took him to a vet clinic to get examined and he was diagnosed with a URI and Stomatitis. He is being treated for his URI, but the Stomatitis requires surgery. Stomatitis is a very painful oral condition typically caused by the immune system’s response to an accumulation of plaque, which causes severe inflammation and painful ulcers. Because of the nature of Stomatitis, aggressive treatment is recommended. For Russell, this means having all his teeth extracted. This will give him his best chance at a full recovery. I’ve been trying to find a rescue who can help with the medical costs, but haven’t been successful. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to pay for the surgery and any possible post-surgery treatments on my own and I’m asking for donations to help with the cost. Any donation amount will be very much appreciated. Thank you so much for all your support!

2-5-21  Dustin - broken femur

Hi my name is Dustin! I’m only 2 months old but in my short life a lot of stuff has happened to me. I can’t quite tell foster mama what happened but some people found me in their yard and took me to animal services because I looked really sick. I had to get a blood transfusion because I barely had any. My PCV was 10% and it should be at least 25%. I was on IV fluids and syringe feeding but needed more one on one care so animal services asked foster mama to take me.
I was on IV fluids for over a week! It took me a bit before I was eating on my own. Once I was a bit stronger I tried to stand and that’s when foster mama noticed a problem with my leg. I couldn’t stand on it and it was turning inwards and when foster mama touched it it hurt me. I went to Dr Sabshin for X-rays and it showed my femur was broken. Im on pain medication for now to try and help keep me comfortable. I have an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon, Dr Rose, to get my leg fixed but there’s one problem....we needs the money for my leg. No one has donated to my fundraiser for my leg surgery 😿I know times are tough right now but will you consider sending a couple dollars towards my surgery to get my leg fixed so I can run and play like a normal kitten and not hurt anymore? Even $1 helps! We have a lot of followers and if everyone donated $1 we would be more than set. Please help foster mama raise the funds needed for my surgery. Love, Dustin

2-6-21  Cat colony in need of food

I have a cat colony that was left for my discovery when my neighbors in the housing development next door to us moved out, leaving several kitties to fend for themselves. They were left with one bag of food and a small bucket of water. The kitties ranged in age from approximately 8 weeks old to around 3-4 year old adults. None if them had been spayed or neutered and many females were pregnant again! I've done my best and I hate asking for help but I'm not sure what else to do! My husband is a painter and work is slow due to the pandemic and the cold weather and I'm doing my best to feed all of them but I have 3 children who are priority. I've been able to get all but 2 of the male cats spayed and neutered and most of the kittens have been re-homed. What I am asking for is help with food for them - with it being so cold right now, they are needing more food and I'm not sure where there next bag will come from at this point. 😔 I would GREATLY APPRECIATE any help that you could provide. Thank you, in advance, for your time! I look forward to hearing back from you soon! 😸

2-16-21 Duchess - cat needs surgery

This persons kitty is extremely sick. At first they thought it was an allergic reaction to something she ate. She cannot stop vomiting. Her blood platelets are very low also, but they thought it would pass. Once she got home with medication and fluids in board.  She got worse. She now has an ulcer from all the vomiting. They are thinking she has an obstruction from something bad she ate and will need an MRI and then probably surgery. She is very very ill and needs help. She has depleted everything she has to pay bills so far. The Dollar Club called in $200 so far.

This afternoon Cee Cee became lethargic and her belly was very tender. She had a single kitten on February 12th and seemed fine until today. We took her to Creature Comforts for an emergency visit and Dr. Mary found that Cee Cee has mastitis and elevated bilirubin which could mean some liver problems. Cee Cee is staying at the hospital receiving IV antibiotics and fluids and they are watching the irregular blood work. The low estimate for Cee Cee's bill is $886 and the high estimate is $1000. Please donate whatever you can. Every single dollar helps. Thank you.  **Early update because Cee Cee decided to squeeze out of her cone and chew the infection site and will now be having surgery. 2-23-21  5 dogs need vet care

I have a very sad story to tell. Last week was one of the coldest, snowiest weeks Arkansas has ever seen. An 83 year old woman went outside to feed her cats and fell in the snow. She was found froze to death two days later. She had no family and no one to check on her. She left 5 little Chihuahua's alone in the house. They were turned over to a local shelter. They all have issues. I brought them home yesterday. Two are very old and frail. One has large tumors another has no teeth or lower jaw. They all need vet care and I am going to need help with that. They are terrified and won't come out of their crates

2-24-21  Edith Ann - stray rescued dog needs vetting

This poor baby needs a rescue asap. Dumped a while back. She desperately needs help. She is friendly and alone. This is Cleveland Texas.  **UPDATE** Ok I have the girl from Cleveland
I am gonna call her Edith Ann. She is sweet. We need to get her to a vet ASAP. She has skin issues, Severely underweight, Her coat is a smelly sticky mess. But she is sweet. I don’t think she has EVER been indoors.  **UPDATE** So I took Edith and to Petco for a bath, since I don’t have any water. No bitterness,  I got her to Petco she did great wagged her tail at everybody didn’t bark at any of the dogs that she saw most of them were puppies and little dogs in peoples arms. She walked up the steps to get into the tub with no prompting. Just guiding of the leash. My own dogs won’t do that. I doubt it will be that easy in a couple of days when I go again, because she was not a fan of the water hose LOL. We started her off easy I gave her a nice rinse you would not believe the color of the brown water that came out of that dog!  I gave her her use the puppy shampoo first. Then I rinsed her again. I had some leftover medicated shampoo, so I bathed her with that and let it sit on her for about six minutes she was getting kind of antsy it’s supposed to sit for 10 but. Rinsed her, conditioned her, rinsed her. Towel dried her, I use the blow dryer, and towel dried her again. She was trying to get out of the tub. But she also was licking me while I was massaging the show soap and shampoo into her. I’m not sure if she’s ever had a bath. She smells better not great but better and her coat, what there is of it looks 100% better. I wouldn’t be surprised if she turned out to be a plush when her coat comes in full again. She is going to be a stunner. She has all this extra skin on her hind end. She has had about 4 cups of kibble throughout the day, four hotdogs and a raw egg. Not all at once. But we are feeding her well.

2-26-21  Melanie - jaundiced stray

Rowan County Cats & Kittens need your Help
Melanie came into the shelter with jaundice and needs to be out today or will be euthanized because they feel jaundice means she is very ill. If we can raise enough funds we will try and get it out into a vet today.  **UPDATE**   It is with great sadness and tears that we make this update. We had bloodwork done on her and combo test after the vet had told us the pronosis was poor and her jaundice was throughout her body. She was severely anemic with high liver enzymes, very thin and also tested positive for FELV. We discussed with the vet the possibility of having her hospitalized at Carolina Vet Specialists. She would have needed one or more blood transfusions which they didn't feel would improve her prognosis and they cost per transfusion alone is between $2000-3000. The vet felt the kindest action would be to let her go and that is what we decided would be best. So she is gone. We thank everyone that contributed to her vet bill. We had hoped we could save her

2-27-21  Pitiful Paws Rescue trying to save 20+ cats

Pitiful Paws Rescue is asking for donations.
We will be working on a case today in the mountains of southern West Virginia (roughly 3 hours from us) to help an elderly man that asked for help with at least 20 cats that he cannot care for (don’t worry, there are people/agencies trying to help him as well and get him out of the home also). We have only seen pictures so far, but it appears to be a very sad case and a lot of the cats and kittens appear to have eye infections/upper respiratory issues as far as we can tell. These cases in rural Appalachian areas will break your heart over and over again. It’s so hard for people to even afford to care for themselves, let alone pets...especially if they end up with strays, etc. From what I can tell, there’s not even a vet clinic within an hour of the location. So, please consider donating today to help us get these kitties the care that they need. We will be working hard to get them all gathered up/trapped (if need be) today and back to Camp PPR where they can get the help they need.
