7-1-19  Greta --  Emaciated stray cat

Lucky Day Animal Rescue: We took in this poor girl tonight. She was found outside by some nice folks and is in pretty rough shape. These kind people named her Greta. We were originally intending to get Greta to our vet tomorrow but the folks that found her said she was not eating at all so thankfully they were able to get her to Wilson's this evening where she is currently hospitalized. Greta has quite a few things going on. She has a ruptured eye that will have to come out at some point. She is very emaciated and dehydrated. She has some mouth issues- they are not sure if it is tooth root abcesses or something more. Her body temp was also very low. They are not quite sure of her age yet- we know she is well into adulthood. They said her prognosis is guarded but we feel she deserves a chance. Right now the plan is to get her stabilized. They are starting an IV, will be working to bring her body temp up, pain meds for her mouth and will try to get her to eat. They will be running full blood work and a combo test tonight. She has a long road ahead of her and her estimate for emergency care is between $1200-1800. We know she is in the best place possible so we ask you to send those thoughts and prayers. We would also be so appreciative of any donations to help Greta. Lucky Day is a 501c3

Wilson's does take call in donations over the phone, (just say it is for Lucky Day/Greta) @ 586-752-6217.

7-1-19 Abel - Tiny kitten with uri

So the momma of this guy wasn't taking care of him so I brought him inside and I'm doing my best to save him. He's the only one left out of the 3 she had about 2 weeks ago. His little eyes are getting better but he has a bit of a boogery nose that I am trying to keep clean. He has a hard time breathing when I feed him kitten formula and he has peed when I wipe his little bottom....so I'm thinking that's a plus. Sometimes he eats really good then other times he won't take any. I have him wrapped up in a cozy blanket as his body seems so cold, even before I brought him in.
Seeing his will to make it has made me try that much harder....and I have decided to name him Abel.
I had just cleaned his nose and tried to feed him, which he did take a little bit, but he was more interested in sleep so I wrapped him up in a towel and tucked in my shirt to warm him up. He needs eye meds and antibiotics but I am between jobs right now so I have no money to take him to the vet.

7-3-19 Ranger - kitten with seizures

Meet Ranger. Ranger is a 10 week old little boy who has had a rough start to life. I came across Ranger three weeks ago, where he was hiding in a building surrounded by FIVE Labradors. Since having Ranger, we have discover that he has seizures, and that he doesn't see very well. He has had three in these three short weeks. His last episode was Sunday, and was by far the worst. I would like to get Ranger to the vet, but with all of the fosters in the rescue right now, money is limited. We need to get him to the vet as soon as we can to prevent any permanent damage and see what's going on with this sweet boy. Once I raise some funds to get him to the vet, I will post the amounts of each visit and an update after each one. We are looking at a very expensive journey with this little one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, from all of us at Paws & Claws Feline Rescue, and from little Ranger!

7-6-19 Heidi - dog found with 4 broken legs

The Little Angels Project:  Meet Heidi. All four legs were broken. Will you help?

Heidi was found as a stray unable to walk by the North Central Animal Shelter. The officer immediately saw she was badly injured and rushed her to an emergency vet. At this vet, it was determined that she most likely had fractures in all four of her legs. While its unknown what really happened to Heidi, The emergency vet suspects she was tossed from a moving vehicle or some other traumatic event like falling from a two-story building. She will need an orthopedic surgeon to come in and fix all of her legs so that she can walk again. Our orthopedic surgeon was in disbelief when we sent over the x-rays of this poor girl. She cannot walk or stand. Her condition is very painful, but thankfully her pain is being managed well with appropriate medications. Here is what our surgeon said that needs fixing "L carpus needs arthrodesis surgery, R Carpus may need ligament repair or fx repair of ulnar (will determine which once in there), the tarsal-metatarsal joint in LHL looks like it needs arthrodesis too for a fx of all metatarsals , the opposite RHL has the third distal phalanx fx/ luxation and the metatarsal fx"

We need to raise $5,000 for all her surgeries and aftercare and we need your help! Little Angels Project is a 501c3

7-15-19  Talulah  - horribly injured kitten

**Calling all animal friends** We desperately need your help’ There was a tiny Kitten dropped off at midnight last night with "small wound." After evaluation, we saw kitten needs immediate medical care due to maggot filled wounds and necrotizing smell.  **UPDATE** Talulah was attacked by an animal and being a feral kitten ended up with severe maggot infestation. After shaving her the wound and infestation is worse than anticipated. Her whole chin has been eaten away by maggots. There is a maggot filled injury directly behind her right ear. There is another huge wound on her neck filled. As well as multiple puncture wounds. Since the image taken all wounds have been flushed and treated. She is on antibiotics and being kept for observation and wound cleaning. Attached is the veterinary bill estimate as we are looking at just over $1,000. She is currently at Saint Francis Veterinary Center of South Jersey ER. 7-20-19 Angie - very ill dog rescued from a questionable 'rescue'

When we got the call about a dog who was adopted out by an organization that calls themselves a" rescue" we were mortified at what we heard. A young couple went to meet a dog at a "foster home" and they were horrified at what they saw (details have been provided to law enforcement). This particular dog was emaciated, filthy, and they knew something more serious was wrong. Despite the shady history provided and not being given any medical records, the couple couldn't bear to leave her in those conditions. The "rescue" handed her over with no contract, no paperwork, nothing at all. Once they took her home, they realized how sick she really was . She was vomiting, had diarrhea, wouldn't eat and became lethargic. They brought her to the emergency hospital and had a screening blood test done that showed she had advanced diabetes, her blood sugar was over 600 and normal is around 125. While waiting at the hospital they reached out to rescues for help realizing they were not in the financial position to give her all the medical care she desperately needed. When we got the call, we couldn't say no. We are disgusted because not only does this make legitimate rescues look bad but it is immoral for a "rescue" to adopt out dogs without any medical treatment, in poor condition and no contract with adopters. She was transferred to our Veterinary partner at Verona and Montclair Animal Hospitals for further testing and treatment. Since then we have been trying to control her diabetes & she has also been diagnosed with Cushing's disease. Angie's treatment is costly! Consulting with specialists, hospitalization, & having to check her into a 24 emergency facility has Angie's bill at approximately $9000! We will continue to do everything to make her better but WE NEED YOUR HELP!  As a rescue we rely solely on donations and your help, It's the only way we can help dogs like Angie. We know it's a lot to ask but if you can please DONATE (link in bio) to her medical care & SHARE our post we would be beyond grateful! Thank you  Rescue Haven Foundation is a 501c3

7-20-19  Sick senior stray

SICK SENIOR STRAY NEEDS 60ppl TO DONATE $10 TO HELP HIM

. THIS WEEK HAS BEEN VERY DIFFICULT ON US WITH EMERGENCY CASES. WE NEED YOUR HELP We are tagged in countless posts daily. We don’t have the time or the resources right now to organize large fundraisers and every volunteer we have is hands on. We spend 4 hours a day just feeding strays over 53 stops and being all volunteer (all of us working FT) and not having food donated, the cost of the food alone is difficult to maintain. Having said that we also can’t turn our back when we are tagged in a post for a stray urgently needing medical care and no other individuals or rescues have responded. Below is the post we were tagged in multiple times. Finally Paulette was able to trap him but didn’t have the funds to have him vetted. We supplied food and gas money to have him seen by Dr. Black, which was over an hour drive. He is estimated at 11-12yrs old (possibly older) and at some point his eye ruptured. He has a severe URI which is why he wasn’t eating and his teeth are in horrible condition. He had an X-ray done to make sure there isn’t a polyp. He was given a convenia shot, flea treatment and is now on Azithromycin as his infection is bad. He was severely matted (they shaved him down) and treated for earmites. When he recovers from his URI he will get neutered and a dental. The cost for today is $192. Due to his age he will need bloodwork before undergoing surgery. We are looking at an additional $350 for those services. Today’s bill put us over our balance we are allowed to carry. This is his chance to have a pain free life inside. We don’t post 1/10 of the cases we take on. If we don’t get the donations to cover these cases we cannot continue to help these animals that have no one to speak for them. This has been a very difficult week for us financially with medical bills for the 15 emergency cases we took on (none having vet care) and really need a lot of people to contribute just a little to help us help them. Tri State Noah Project is a 501c3

7-23-19 Midnight injured stray cat

A few weeks ago there was a lost cat in one of our volunteers neighborhoods. Our volunteer, Erica, set out food and a trap in hopes to trap the cat and reunite him with his owner. However a different cat ended up in the trap. (And the other cat was reunited with owner ). She had never seen this cat before but he looked like a stray. Not really in great shape. She took him to  be neutered and vaccinated. They noted that he had cauliflower ear, broken teeth and a possible leg fracture. We clearly couldn’t release him in this condition. Yesterday he went to @housepawsmobilevet to be sedated for x rays and bloodwork. It turns out the cat, who is now named Midnight, does have a fractured knee. He is also FIV positive and needs several teeth pulled. He also has some scarring and discoloration on his eye. The vet doesn’t think he is that old but just had a difficult life outside.

The vet recommended Midnight go for an orthopedic consult to see if we can save his leg. On his condition we clearly cannot ever release him so he will most likely become a sanctuary cat, living out his life in a foster home. It breaks our hearts to think of him outside alone, starving and dragging a broken leg trying to survive. We are grateful to Erica for being so committed to Midnight. We are an all volunteer run 501c3 charity and donations are tax deductible.

Raising money so she can pay her pet deposit and keep this cat since it is currently in animal control. She has had since he was a kitten, I spoke with owner on phone she was saddened and cried at animal control because she didn't want to leave him there. So we just need the deposit of  $250. Then work on vetting after - Vetting = $69.  **UPDATE** Money raised, Twinkie is back home and will be vetted within a week.

7-27-19 Helping an elderly man with stray cats

Sandy Holt...EMERGENCY! And I'm very upset!  I don't know how I'm gonna do it or even IF it can be done, but there's about 10 or more kitties that desperately need help. Nobody is feeding them but one person who is elderly and it's becoming too much for him. They are all strays that will need spaying/neutering NOW. Or there's going to be another 10 or 20 before long. I don't know what to do except help the ones I can! My mom and I worked hard at this very spot last year to catch and move as many as we could. The numbers are up again! We're fighting a losing battle. Even if we are able to get most of them altered, still need someone to take food to them on a daily basis or find them all homes/rescues. They would make great barn kitties. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'll get pics this week. God I wish people would smarten up and spay/neuter their animals! The animals SUFFER out here! Always fixing someone else's irresponsibility! It's not right. I'm not by any means a wealthy person and can barely make it as it is but what do I do when someone says kitties are dying??? 2 kittens were found dead the other morning when the man went to feed them. I can't do this alone but I'm gonna do what I can. I know everyone is overfull but he's 82 yrs old for goodness sake and needs help. These kitties have nobody but him to bring them food. He shouldn't be caring for someone else's irresponsibility! Those kitties need help.

**  The Dollar Club offered to send food and to pay for 1 spay. (We don't normally pay for spays but this is an emergency situation).  I also advised to get the females done first and fast as they are the baby makers.

Where the spay/neuter will be done:  Loveshop Vet Clinic. 434-575-0029. Probably be awhile before we get appointments. They stay pretty booked up. He's low cost clinic. I'll get as many females as I can. Waiting to see who's semi feral and who's easy to catch. Thank you for your help!!!  I'll get the food to him. I'm hoping to find someone to go feed those cats for him or a place for the cats to go. He's 82 yrs old with back trouble and shouldn't be driving, lifting, bending, walking especially these hot days.

7-28-19  Miss Midnight - very emaciated cat

Sarama Animal Rescue: We desperately need your help again!  Another stray cat came into our care yesterday in really bad shape. She was found outside an apartment building extremely emaciated. We apologize for the not so great photo but you can see how far her spine is protruding and how thin she is. She was purring and cuddling with her finders the first few hours and then she became lethargic and started to vomit. They asked Sarama for help and she was brought in to @mountlaurelah yesterday through emergency. The finders named the cat Midnight - we are calling her Miss Midnight so not to be confused with the other stray cat Midnight with the broken leg. Miss Midnight is a middle aged adult female kitty. The vet estimated she is 5 or 6 years old. She was extremely dehydrated yesterday that it took hours of them giving her fluids under the skin for them to be even able to get a catheter in her vein. Her bloodwork came back surprising normal but the vet suspects her dehydration may be throwing her red blood cell count off because Miss Midnight is extremely pale and looks anemic. Her x rays didn’t show anything remarkable either, just that she is extremely malnourished. She is currently receiving supportive care and we are hoping she will start to feel better. We do not know if she was starving from not being able to find food or if she has an underlying illness. Her estimate for in hospital care is $1600. We desperately need donations to help Miss Midnight get the care she needs. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated 🖤 They are a 501c3

7-29-19 Shamrock - kitten with extensive injuries and full of maggots

Fox Foster Kittens is asking for donations. Our little kitten who was infested with maggots is so lucky to be alive. We have to give a giant thank you to our vet Dr. Martin Neher at Palmer Ranch Animal Clinic for stopping what he was doing on his Sunday to come in and help us clip and clean shamrocks wounds. Last night was spent removing close to 300 maggots from various wounds on his body and tail. Our vet in Tampa, Dr. Sabshin had us start antibiotics and she will be doing a tail amputation on shamrock in a couple days. Today all his wounds were severely oozing and we really needed to get them clipped. The ER was too busy for something so simple, I couldn’t get a hold of my groomer, thankful for Dr Neher for coming to the rescue!  With the hair and debris cleaned away from the wounds we can keep them flushed and prescription antibiotic cream in them. He’s also on antibiotics. Dr Sabshin will likely have to do some debridement when she does his tail amputation this week. He also has a broken jaw, but that is an old injury and we are not rushing to put him under anesthesia too many times too quick in his condition. Our orthopedic surgeon will have to fix his jaw once he’s a little more stable. Right now the goal is to get all this infection and necrosis under control, get some weight on him, and get him hydrated.

Please keep shamrock in your prayers, he has a really long battle ahead of him.  Right now we are in huge need of both funds and supplies. As always we need funds for the never ending medical bills that just pile on. Even just $1 adds up. We hear people apologizing all the time for their “small” (we don’t think it’s small) $1 and $5 donations. But if everyone who saw this post sent $1 we would be set! Thank you to everyone who supports and donates, we couldn’t do this without you! (Fox Foster is a 501c3)

7-29-19 SIssy - very very sick kitten

Carson Cats Rescue:  URGENT!! Sweet Sissy is FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE and we need FUNDS to SUPPORT HER!! PLEASE PLEASE DONATE AND NETWORK!

If you can donate ANY amount, please go to our website at http://www.carsoncats.com/donate (takes credit cards). or to paypal directly at paypal.me/carsoncats  or on our venmo at@carsoncatsrescue (venmo.com/carsoncatsrescue) We rescued Sissy and her siblings from the Carson Shelter July 19th. They were turned in originally with their mom and the mom was returned to the owner a couple weeks later when the kittens were weaned...2 days after their mom left, Sissy and her sister got sick with URI and very lethargic. The shelter was going to euthanize but called us as a last effort to help.  We have had the 2 sisters at our vets now for 10 days but Sissy has declined despite being on 2 antibiotics, daily fluids and aggressive feedings. Last night (Sunday) the vet called and said Sissy was not doing well - see her laying lateral on her side....We did not have the last minute funds for an emergency vet so the vet tech took her home and fed her hourly and kept her warm. By a miracle and a lot of hard work by the vet tech, Sissy survived and was up and walking around this morning. The vet tech can not take her home again and the vet says she needs overnight care and IV fluids for the next 24 hours and she will have a good chance of surviving...We need at least $1500 for 24 -48 hour care and also to help pay off their visit at our local vet. 7-30-19  Hoarding situation

YET ANOTHER HOARDING CASE: EVERYONE FAILED. Check out the most recent case needing help at bit.ly/Lucerne0727.-If your answer is “Call AC,” they said to get rid of the animals. APS? Same answer. Call the media? We did. Friends and family? Help us find them. Spay/neuter? Blame everyone. If you want to blame someone, check out the list of everyone that has failed. You may be somewhere on it. WHO FAILED? Friends, family, neighbors, AC, APS, news media, physicians, courts, Social Services and rescues—all of which have not been persistent in a plan to break the cycle. People that want to slam someone obviously have too much free time on their hands. They have actually interfered with prior rescue efforts causing loss of animal lives and human harm. Such conduct discourages people who otherwise might ask for or accept help. So, if you’re out to slam someone instead of bringing in help to the table, step off--that's not helping! Hoarding is a mental disorder. We’re glad to have any supportive information that may help the current situation or may help prevent it in the future. In every case, we should be looking at what we can do to prevent it going forward. VET FUNDS ARE URGENTLY NEED FOR AN EST. 56 - 66 CATS! Twenty-six were taken out Saturday and an est. 30 - 40 remain. Please donate and share!  PayPal info for the vet that took out 26 cats on Sat. is below. Please do not contact the vet directly as that could be overwhelming if she gets a volume of inquiries. We were told that someone not working this case solicited for funds with intent to take animals. We do not know anything about that. Please visit this FB group to know who is taking animals out before you donate. We will share names of organizations that take animals--AFTER ANIMALS ARE TAKEN. Check out the most recent case needing help. bit.ly/Lucerne0727

Here is where you can donate funds directly to Angel's Touch Mobile Vet Services. Dr Beekly was on site with us yesterday and took 26 to start getting them the help need. She also may go back today to remove more. She truly is an Angel ❤❤❤❤
