6-3-20 Finny - cat needing dental

Friends, I need help, WITHOUT judgement. This is Finny. Finny is 14 and has had some health concerns that simple blood work, last month, hasnā€™t solved. One of Finnyā€™s owners is devastated, because finding a solution isnā€™t currently feasible. The other ownerā€™s solution is to have Finny put down on Thursday. Can anyone help? Or is anyone associated with a rescue that can help? This poor baby is short on time.  He is in the early stages of kidney failure. And he is in desperate need of oral surgery to have some extractions, in order to prevent heart health issues and for him to be able to eat more comfortably and put on some necessary weight. We began, yesterday, collecting money to help his new momma with his vet bills. **UPDATE**  A HUGE thank you to everyone! Finny is scheduled for Monday for the dental and extractions. Hopefully he'll feel better after this. We started him on several meds and vitamins trying to get him to eat better, and I'm giving him fluids to keep him hydrated. He's still pretty feisty! They'll do more blood work on Monday so we get a better idea where we are. There was some blood in his urine, which was quite dilute. So say some prayers to whoever you pray to, or throw it out to the universe that there's no cancer involved. Doing what we can to give him the best possible life in his retirement years.

6-10-20  Large colony needs help with food

I moved to Bethel Springs, TN over six months ago knowing the land and home came within (I thot 17 barn/land cats)....The owner passed of a pulmonary embolism suddenly we were told.

The family promised to help with trapping and sprays and neuters if they cud stay. Of course they could stay bc I was bringing 16 rescues of my own from my old land. Six that live in the house and ten that r ferals that r altered and r fed and vetted when needed around the barn.
I have plenty of pics and all to show legitimacy of this situation. The true number of cats ended up being 47 with all kittens included.Iā€™ve received $0 for the help from the family over a six months time. I have begged and begged for help from the two local vets for help with spays and neuters at reduced costs. No chance they say.Begged for help with all rescues locally for help with altering them and help with food until work is back 100%. No luck. All in the area are absolutely oblivious to the cat population being insane and they have no animal rescue shelter. The one woman n town that runs their ā€œhumane societyā€ is a one woman show with dogs only. She said they donā€™t deal with cats. Sheā€™s great but has her hands tied. Can u point me to ANYTHING that my help with only the spays/neuters and food temporarily??? Itā€™s to a point that a few have begun to get very thin and covered n fleas and ticks. We built a $6700 ā€œsafe house ā€œ for them to keep them from being coyote food but this was before the pandemic and before job hrs got cut. I do not mind them living on our 128 acres but have no clue where to get help.  One rescue n Knoxville offered to take a litter but then backed out after my ten hr round trip drive bc of ringworm and URI. Iā€™ve also started treating one FIP cat with GS treatment that is one of my personal cats and am having trouble with the costs bc of feeding the population outside ...Iā€™m truly n tears today bc itā€™s at a point of having to humanely euthanize or let them starve.  The ONLY thing either vets office wud offer help with was a reduced cost euthanasia fee for $15 per cat!!!! Sick feeling but am so lost here. Have done rescue for 25 yrs and never seen such a situation with local help for the stray animals.

6-11-20 OJ Kitty needing hospitalization

Taming Gracie Corporation: Please help! We have to take this boy to the ER asap. Just brought over...he's in such bad shape.***Update - He is hospitalized. Thank you for the help so far! We have about 1/3 of what we need in to cover his care. Fingers crossed we can come up with more. I named this guy Orange Julius and will probably call him OJ if he lives through this. Vet update - he is still very dehydrated, but he is looking better this morning than yesterday. He was standing and he ate all of his food in one go. That's encouraging. I really want to give him a chance of making it. He was out there on the streets walking around in this condition to look for food. There's definitely a will to live in this boy. Please help if you can! This was once someone's kitty. I don't know how he ended up on the streets, but he's sweet as can be. He must have searched for help at one point, but none came and he learned to walk on the wild side. Sadly, he got sick. A generous and dedicated woman who goes all around town feeding the feral cats noticed him, felt love for him, and brought him for help. We're so hoping for a happy ending to this story. Will you help us to help him, please? Thank you so, so much to those who have chipped in to help him! <3 You did a good thing.

6-15-20  Ginger  -  community cat shot in the back

I saw a post last night about a kitten who had been shot. These two were community cats well
Loved by a neighborhood and had been TNRā€™s a couple of months ago. Monday night, the white one, Ginger, disappeared. About a day later she came crawling back to their primary residence dragging her back legs. She was taken to a local vet only to find she had a bullet of some sort lodged near or in her spine. Worried for their safety, they reached out for help and I picked up Ginger and her bonded brother, Tiger, about 10pm last night. The local vet was unable to save or send xrays for some reason so we will be off to our primary vet today to find out exactly whatā€™s what. She doesnā€™t appear to be in pain and Iā€™m told can move her legs now, though since last night here she has stayed in one spot leaning over to eat ..They are the sweetest and only 9 months old. As the family may be seeking out animal cruelty charges- we wonā€™t be releasing any details on area or more than what we can medically confirm. But we will do everything we can to help them and to see what can be done for Ginger.  **UPDATE**  Sadly it has been Confirmed that BB is lodged right in Gingers spinal Cord. Radiographs have been sent to neurologist and ortho and has started on steroids. Ginger has to be expressed and has no feeling below the knee in either back leg! We are looking at options now and will require an MRI to determine whether a surgical fix is feasible. Prayers up and any financial assistance is appreciated. **My heart is so broken for Ginger. This looks so small and ā€œjust a spotā€ , yet one BB has forever changed his life (oh Ginger as it turns out is a neutered HE!) ... he is only 9 months old. Our prayer is that nothing is severed and that there is just inflammation around the spinal cord and that the steroids will help. An MRI, which is about $2500 is the only way to confirm (and time). Iā€™m so sad at the cruelty of people.**

6-18-20  Kittens need help with medical and food

It's not like I am not already swimming in kittens, but when help is needed I try my best to assist, reach out to others, give guidance; just doing my part to help the voiceless and homeless.
Yesterday, I took in a mom and four kittens in the morning. Those were a blessing preparing me for what my evening would look like. I was helping a friend with a colony of cats. LOTS of sick kitties. So far removed from this colony and in my care are 3 moms (which will be returned after they are spayed) and 15 kittens - all sizes, colors and ages. So many are sick. Peyton is the worst. We are trying our best to save her eye which is the worst I have ever seen. Between wanting to throw up and cry, we managed to medicate her and all remaining kittens and moms.
Our rescue is overflowing with cats and kittens. Medical bills are adding up, as well as the need for food, litter, costs for medical bills, spays, neuters and supplies to keep our rescue going. Please continue to help our Village by helping them.

6-20-20  Food for Homeless

I have a homeless man that stops by my blessing box occasionally and a lot of times it is empty. He stopped by this evening and it was empty so he had no food and hadn't eaten all day and I went inside and got some food for him for at least 3 days worth and he handed me a solar powered angel stake for the lawn and told me I was an angel...it was the sweetest thing and although I know I am NO angel it was just knowing this man had nothing and was homeless and he most likely had this in his backpack for some lighting at night and gave it to me. It is on my lawn and will stay there to remind myself to never stop giving even if people take advantage sometimes <3 His name is Randy! He truly is a sweet man and I don't know what he did to end up homeless but all I care about is that he is human and everyone needs to eat no matter what.

6-20-20  Charlie - dog with pancreatitis

Some of you may remember Charlie from 2 years ago. He belonged to a homeless man who's elderly father was caring for Charlie. We had his eye and large tumor removed. Now he is a sick boy.  He is staying at the vet through the weekend to see if he can pull through. He has a large GI bleed and is in quite a bit of pain. We're hopeful though.  His owner finally has a place to live and Charlie is his world! He does need guidance with every step and I want to do everything I can to help him with that. Vet costs are super hard for the family so anything we can do to keep Charlie well is helpful.

Diagnosis:
1. Pancreatitis - enlarged, irregular margins, hypoechoic, hyperechoic peripancreatic fat with sound attenuation.
2. Pyloric antral wall thickening and thickened pyloric sphincter.
3. Splenic nodule - suspect nodular hyperplasia.
4. Mild left and scant right pyelectasia.

Recommendations:
The ultrasound findings document a changes in the pancreas
consistent with acute pancreatitis. Secondary gastric mucosal ulceration is suspected. Referral for hospitalization and critical care is recommended, including IV fluids, opioid CRI, Cerenia, proton pump inhibitor (superior to H2 blockers), sucralfate, metoclopramide, cobalamin and broad-spectrum antibiotics (due to concerns about bacterial translocation). If gastrointestinal hemorrhage continues, gastroscopy is recommended to rule out underlying gastric neoplasia. Prognosis is good.

REQUESTING DONATIONS: Anyone that can help with Lambchopā€™s vetting costs, please let me know. I paid $1500 today and it may be another $1500 before her vetting is done. She was attacked in my yard by a pit bull that was loose in my neighborhood and wasnā€™t expected to live but the vet thinks she will make it and may just need a few more procedures and hospital care. He is considering letting her recover some at home if I can bring her back and forth to the vet during the week. **UPDATE**  She will require hip surgery on both sides after her front 1/2 of her body has healed more. One more surgery to close a massive hole up front. She canā€™t have that one yet due to risk of infection. She can stand a few moments but can not walk at all. Any donation can help. 6-29-20  Kiwi -  Kitten needs surgery for persistant aortic arch

Little Kiwi (fka Sunny D) from Dallas Animal Services was thought to have pneumonia and be a Mega E baby. Having a foster with experience with Mega E (Megaesophagus) kittens, we decided to give this little guy a chance. After further x-rays, we learned he was in fact a Mega-E baby and did have aspirate pneumonia (as a secondary due to the Mega-E)...

But then we found out the cause of the Mega-E. Our little Kiwi is one of the extremely rare few who has a condition called a persistent aortic arch. In simple terms, one of his aortic vessels is wrapped around his esophagus. Without surgery, his condition will quickly worsen and his life will be short. So, we will again enter into a risky hit absolutely necessary surgery to save this boys life. We have to try!

6-30-20  Hoard of cats need medical help

We spent this humid, rainy evening trapping kittens. For every one we trapped, there are 50 more. It is heartbreaking to hear kittens rasping for breath. These kittens will be going to In Care of Cats. We need rescue and foster commitment to help more of these BUT everyone is full to the brim- it is kitten season. Please spay and neuter your pets and please donate to local rescues. Non-profits depend on your donations to help animals like these. Newborn kittens, kittens, young mamas and adult cats (pregnant again.) To help any more, we must have rescue and foster backing. These are not free kittens.****Edited to add - the free cats/kitten sign was painted by the elderly owner. There are at least 100 cats. Maybe more. The adults need TNR and relocated. There are many kittens that would need trapped, vetted and fostered before being adopted.

6-30-20  Cat very ill with worm stuck in her chest

This poor kitty is another one from our previous post with the malnourished cat. This was the mama cat who was also very ill and kept having babies. The gal finally was able to trap her and get her to the vet. She has, what they call a wolf in her chest. But it is one of those nasty worms that are laid on them by bugs and then they attach and grow inside the skin. The vet said they can do the worm removal and treatment along with a spay for $150 in total. I told them to go ahead, we can cover that. So mama will not have any more babies and the worm is being removed and the hole treated. The gal is hoping to connect with a shelter or rescue who can help her spay/neuter all the cats there.

I was contacted by a vet that I had called money into previously for another cat.  They had someone drop off a cat that was blocked and the owner had no money to pay for treatment. They asked if we could help. I said of course, please help the kitty.

I have no photo at this time but I am hoping they can unblock him and see if they can give him back to the owner who is devastated.  I cannot give the vet info either just yet as they are not able to handle calls right now. They will only accept donations through us.
