11-04-19  Starving cat colony

A group of homeless kitties in Phelan needs help urgently! A human family that's slated to move is trying to feed them, but unable to afford food. Kitties are outside and subject to hazards. They need rescue! This case was brought to us by a member of the community who is trying to help and has taken the initiative to help other animals in the past, providing spay/neuter and food, as well as adopting and taking her feral colony with her when she moved! Please support these kitties, the family that cannot afford their care and the remarkable good Samaritan that is offering be part of the solution. This is a new case and is separate from other Phelan cases we've worked.

11-05-19 Another starving cat colony

I was contacted by another person who is trying to feed over 100 cats. She isn't able to feed them every day, only a few times a week. I sent $200 worth of food for now but that won't last long.  Any help is greatly appreciated. And yes, they are spayed/neutered.

11-5-19  Jewel  stray dog cut up with machete

I was referred to you by a friend. I am a member of Stray Hearts Animal Rescue. We are a small nonprofit foster based rescue in eastern Kentucky. We are in need of help or we will no longer be able to help animals. Our rescue vehicle has stopped running and our vet bill is over $6,000. We are small but we have managed to save, vet, and find homes for over 30 cats and 20 dogs in the month of October alone. We want to continue what we do but we need help. We just got in a dog that appears to have been hacked up by a machete. The dog is a white female and yes she is at the vet right now under stray hearts animal rescues account. Her name is Jewel. The phone number is 606-673-1144. Thank you so much. They do think they can save her.

11-10-19  Barto colony in need of food

I discovered another cat colony in dire need of help. They need food, vetting and homes. An elderly couple had been taking care of them but have recently been put in a nursing home. A woman discovered the colony starving and very ill and stepped in to help. She has gotten most of them vetted (all on her own) and fed and looking much healthier. But she can't do it alone. She needs help with food so I had $200 worth of food sent. However, she just discovered that the property is being sold at the end of the month and she will need to find a place for them to go. I don't think most of them are that friendly so if anyone in the Barto/Bally/Macungie area of Pennsylvania can offer any barn homes please contact us.  In the meantime, any help with food/shelter/straw would be appreciated.

11-13-19  Al's cat colony near Philadelphia Airport in need of food

Al Chernoff, the man who was murdered in Philadelphia on November 5th was feeding a very large cat colony near the Philly Airport. Since his death, members of the animal rescue community are trying to come together to get these cats taken care of. They have found a feeder and a person to collect and store the food. Now they need the food. The Dollar Club has just sent $200 worth but sadly, that won't go very far for that many cats.  If you wish to help, please donate here or the address below. Due to safety concerns, the address itself cannot be made public.

11-18-19  Vermont  - kitty needing surgery

Vermont was laying hopeless inside a cardboard box in a front yard of an abandoned house in Newark when a Good Samaritan approach and took some photos, posted on Facebook for help. Lifeline was contacted and we are making everything possible to help Vermont but even with all generous donations he received Vet bills are pilling up and more to come. Vermont was clearly attacked by another unknown animal and his right ear ripped off, he does have a horrible infection on top of a really bad upper respiratory, his congestion was so severe that he went in to respiratory arrest when he got agitated being examined. Our friend is about 8 years old, just a few teeth left and almost all broken, Vermont will also need a dental in the future, multiples parasites detected and he is being treated for it. Vermont can’t have surgery on his ear before he gets better and strong. Vermont is going back to clinic for bandage changing every other day and unfortunately on his last visit his veterinarian pointed out that Vermont surgery might needed to be done by a specialized surgeon, we would like to have a second opinion but in order to honor his existing vet balance an continuing his treatment and possibly taking him to another Vet we need monetary help. Please consider donating towards Vermont vetting, any amount would be greatly appreciated!

11-19-19  Peanut  - very sick stray kitten found

Got an urgent plea to help this poor baby today. This little boy has a long battle ahead of him he is approximately 10 to 12 weeks old (at least that's what I am guesstimating). He probably doesn't weigh 1.5 lb and has a terrible upper respiratory infection. all I can see when I open his eyes is puss. I am so hoping to save his life and hopefully I can save his sight as well. He has been given fluids, antibiotics, he's had antibiotic ointment and thankfully he managed to eat now he is resting comfortably on his new heating pad and is nice soft bed. I am going to move him in by the wood stove where he will be nice and toasty. He will be seen by the vet as soon as possible so if anyone would like to donate towards his care you can PayPal me at paypal.me/starryide. I will never stop trying to help anything that I can. The thing that hurts me most is the financial end of it. I am always in need of donations whether it be money, supplies, food or litter. The rescue never ends. for every one that either crosses Rainbow Bridge or graduates to a new home there is always 10 more waiting. Please if you see something that needs help for the love of God please help it. Please keep this little baby in your prayers and please share this post. It does take a village.

11-20-19  Urgent help needed with stray cat colony

As you know, we do not normally fund any spay/neuter, but this person is trying very hard to get a stray colony done so they don't keep growing. She is doing it all on her own and really needs help to get it done.  She has 12 of them caught so far and has the first appointment tomorrow and has funds for only 7 of them to be altered. We will also be sending out some good to help:

11-20-19  Oreo  - cat with severe breathing problem

OREO is in trouble . . . Last night (Tuesday night) he started some very scary, very labored breathing, so was rushed to the emergency vet (Care Center). They diagnosed him with CHF- Congestive Heart Failure; fluid in & around his lungs. (We knew he had a midgrade heart murmur, this crisis may have brought on by the anesthesia used during last week's ear surgery.)
He hasn't been able to bounce back from the ear canal removal surgery last Thursday. Sleeping all the time, not eating, not recovering like we expected. I'd been syringe feeding and giving sub-q fluids, and had spoken with the vet about his condition. So he's been x-rayed, given a diuretic (a lasix drip) to reduce the fluids, and put into an oxygen chamber to help him breathe, but he looked soooo pathetic . . . They anticipate 30 to 60 hours of hospitalization, and care and meds . . . at a staggering cost . . .Our small rescue group (Purrfect Friends) needs help! We've got several medical situations we're caring for in addition to Oreo - so even a small amount all adds up - Thank you!

11-22-19  Alice - kitten needs life saving surgery

The Echo confirmed our worst fear. She has a severe PDA Defect. Without surgery, she will not see her first birthday. The surgery comes with high risk with her little 2 lb body, but it's her only chance. She's only 4 months old and has been hit by a car and born with a bad heart.

She is scheduled for surgery TUESDAY and we really need help to raise funds. PLEASE help us. I love this little girl so much and she deserves every chance at life. A Voice for all Paws.

11-23-19  Max  - cat hit by car in very bad shape

He was thrown out in a trailer court and was fortunate to have a couple that cared for him as an outside cat. Unfortunately today someone hit him on purpose. He should not have been outside to get hit. He should be spending his golden years lounging in a sunny windowsill. We are on our way to Green Hill Veterinary in youngwood. They have no appointments but are allowing us to drop him off and will see what they can do. We can not afford this, but Max deserved better. Whatever happens, we are going to do what we can.  **Update: Max has fluid in the lungs, arthritis, a head injury, and his temp was so low it didnt register. His chances arent great, but hes not in pain, and we couldn't give up on him...we are giving him a night to see how he does. Hes on pain meds, lasix, and is warm. He might go downhill or he might perk up. I told the vet to use his best judgement. If he goes downhill and needs to be euthanized, he said he would hold him (I'm 45 mins away). But if anyone wants to call in a donation for max, his estimate is $430.50. It could be less if he goes downhill, more if he needs addition things. Thank you everyone. I really couldn't do this without you guys.

11-29-19  Victor Stray cat found with huge neck wound

Whispurring Hope Rescue
We have a critical cat coming in in the a.m. He is coming from a farm in Holy Cross. He was hanging around several farms for some years now and has showed up hurt. He can not get to our vets until morning. Prayers for Victor that his outcome will be one of joy. We will post and update his status once he arrives. His photo is on the graphic side but he seems to be faring quite well, they said he is eating and very affectionate. Also please remember us over the holidays, we don't always have time to post all the animals that come in but we try our best. It is an ongoing struggle.
