4-5-18 Two cats needing emergency care

Urgent! $9500 Emergency Funds Needed caused by "Back Yard Vet". Our rescue was contacted by the Carson Animal Shelter to see if we could help with these 2 cats that need urgent medical attention.  One for a torn esophagus by a back yard veterinarian and the other for a blockage in her intestines. The first one's story is unlike no other I have ever heard....It involves the sweetest 2 year old orange tabby named Winston and an unlicensed "veterinarian." 2 weeks ago, Winston was found in a baseball park in Torrance after a little league game...Winston was extremely friendly and came running out of the woods in search of attention and food....The person who found him ended up taking him home. It has been hard for me to get the complete story but she said that something was off with Winston and she took him to a local guy who helps the neighborhood with their animals when people can't afford proper vet care. The "local guy" told her that Winston needed a dental and a fractured tooth removed as he was in pain. Apparently she spent $700 on Winston's "dental" and when she got Winston back, she noticed his breathing was off. When she contacted the "local guy," he said that Winston most likely had a collapsed lung and she needed to go to the veterinarian. She ended up taking him to the Carson Shelter instead :( To make a long story short, we determined that Winston did not have a collapsed lung, but rather the "local guy" ended up tearing Winston's esophagus when he anesthetized Winston for his "dental." Winston now needs to be in Oxygen in 24 hour care, get air removed out of his body periodically, and get x-rays taken every couple days to monitor the air in his body and make sure it is not filling up again. He needs to be confined in a cage for at least 2 weeks and monitored 24 hours to make sure his body is healing. Once healed, he should be ok.....This all is very costly and the estimate for the 2 weeks with bloodwork and 24 hour care is around $5000. Despite what Winston has been through, he is a LOVE and we really really want to help him!!!

The second kitty's name is Goldie. She is a 10 year old sweet Siamese/Himalayan mix who was turned into the shelter for "soiling the house." The shelter emailed us and said "she is not eating, depressed, with an impacted colon with hard stools. When examined, she cries out in pain. Vet says she needs more help than what the shelter can give." Seniors ,as we all know, do not do well getting dumped at the shelter. Our primary vet examined Goldie and said that we need to take her to our internal medicine doctor who would do an ultrasound, x-rays, bloodwork and give IV Fluids. She will have to stay at the 24 hour vets until eating and most likely a feeding tube be placed. The estimate for this is at the low end $4500.

We would love to help both these cats, but we need your help because we just don't have the funds to help without the "village"...If everyone could donate even $5, I know we would be able to take these guys on and give them that second chance!!!! (They are a 501c3)

If you can donate towards their vetting, please go to paypal directly at paypal.me/carsoncats or go to our website at http://www.carsoncats.com/donate. We need to raise $9500!!!! (for 2cats)

4-6-18  Dori - Very sick kitten with hole in foot

This poor baby was found under a big electrical box about to try and cross copens Rd. the guys who got caught her I guess were paying it forward as I had just caught 4 kittens for them last week, but he called me to come get her last night so I did. I learned my lesson this morning to look these little ones over immediately rather then later and here I sit with my stomach in knots... she's bones with fur, barely knows how to eat wet food and i can tell she's dehydrated... then there is the obvious Injury on her head, a cut from her ear to above her eye, she's scared so she's been laying down in the back of a carrier. I finally got her up, she's slow and doesn't straighten herself out and then I noticed a HUGE hole in foot, HUGE HOLE.... Nicole is waiting to hear from a couple rescues if they can take her in but now that I see how much she must hurt I hate waiting... I don't even have a dollar or i take her in immediately... hoping one of the rescues can help her sooner then later, she is so sweet and cuddly and hasn't stopped purring...UPDATE:
poor thing is on her way to the vet as we speak, ill keep this post updated! I hope she's gonna be ok (Lady Luck Animal Rescue just agreed to take her on, they are a 501c3)

4-21-18 Smokey - kitten hit by car

DONATIONS URGENTLY NEEDED🆘KITTEN HIT BY A CAR, LEFT FOR DEAD

We need donations urgently! Once again MBAA was called to help another hurt animal. Poor little Smokey was struck by a vehicle & left for dead!! Smokey is only 5 months old, just a baby. After he was struck by the car the person didn’t even stop! He was left alone, scared, injured & in shock on the roadway!! Luckily a Good Samaritan saw Smokey, blocked traffic with her vehicle & flagged down a Miami Beach police officer who picked Smokey up , rushing him to our vet VCA Alton Rd Animal Hospital. When Smokey arrives at our vet, his temp was 106.7! The pavement was so hot that the vet believes he was literally baking on the roadway because he was unable to move. Smokey will need surgery to stitch up the inside of his mouth because he suffered a large cut which separated the skin from his gums. Smokey also suffered damage to his right paw and we believed he may have suffered nerve damage but only time will tell. As of now he can’t use his right paw. Please donate anything that you can, we are already in big debt at our vets and can only survive with charity from people like you. Every dollar counts and 100% goes to the animals care. With gratitude, Mary Garcia MBAA FOUNDER (MBAA is a 501c3)

4-25-18 Evengeline - Horrible mouth infection/probably stomatitis

Paws4Survival family...one of our cats desperately needs your help! Evangeline was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico. After vetting and fostering on the island, she flew to Boston and has been staying at our cage-free cat shelter while searching for a forever family. 😺Evangeline is an extremely sweet and affectionate cat around 4 years old. Recently she started screaming any time you touch near her mouth. Our vet in Massachusetts discovered she has an infection in many teeth and needs a massive dental procedure estimated to cost between $632-926. We currently have over 100 animals in our care...our vet bills run into the thousands every week, but this week we were hit hard. Over $1,000 for this procedure plus the hip surgery for puppy Mila we shared over the weekend. Thanks to people like you - we can uphold a high standard of care and continue to save lives!
