2-7-18 The Old Man - needs eye removed ASAP

We are in dire need of donations for the Old Mans eye removal surgery.  Our fundraiser did not even raise a fraction of what is needed to proceed. His eye continues to grow larger each day as does the thick.bloody discharge that runs from it. He cannot completely close the lid anymore. Smushy got sick and that bill had to be paid along with the care and feeding of about 30 cats a day and Smushys lifesaving Rx food. We are have not enough money for The Old Man I can assure you.he is in pain from.the pressure caused by the glaucoma. Please it is urgent that we raise the necessary funds to help the Old Man.before his eye bursts. 2-12-18 Beaker, Kitten with head/eye injury

We need your help. We received a call from the shelter today to help this little baby. His name is Beaker. He is 3 months old and weighs only 1.14 lbs. His owner brought him to the shelter like this. They stated he went into a room to drink water and came out like this. This baby was injured somehow...maybe something fell on him, maybe he was stepped on, maybe he was thrown or kicked...but something serious happened. He had blood coming from his nose and he keeps his mouth slightly open. He was having difficulty using his jaw and swallowing. I think he may also have an injury to his jaw because he keeps his mouth slightly open and does not want to use the lower part of his jaw. X-rays will be done of his face and jaw tomorrow to see if any bones are broken. This is the only picture I can share with you..the others are too graphic to share. Caring for a baby this small with such a horrible injury is so heartbreaking. Beaker is under the care of our vets and needs his eye removed. We have him on pain meds and anti inflammatory medications. He is comfortable and being force fed baby food. We need to keep him stable and improving. We need to raise donations for his surgery and the care he will need to recover from whatever happened to him.

2-11-18 Gingy Blocked kitty

This is my 4 year old male cat, Gingy. On Friday, Feb. 9, I took him to Hope Springs Veterinary. There, Dr. Hoffman, DVM diagnosed him with a bladder blockage which is a problem affecting mostly male cats. The condition is caused by the obstruction of the urethra, which transports the urine from the bladder to outside and will manifest through lack of urination for more than 12 hours. His bill is currently at $1,000. 00. I have little funds to pay for this and am asking for financial help from fellow pet lovers. I had a choice of getting Gingy the treatment he needed to save his life, or have him euthanized for around $100.00. Gingy didn't deserve to die. We would truly appreciate any amount you can spare to help us out. But, if you are unable to help with a donation, please share this so that others might respond to this. A heart felt thank you from me and Gingy.  (Patty Gentry)

(TDC did not donate directly due to not being 501c3, BUT several members donated over $250 for kitty on their own.)
2-13-18 Sweet Girl/Lexi - hurt mouth/needs surgery

This poor girl was sitting at a high kill shelter after being surrendered by her family. She is unable to eat because of a problem with her mouth. She has a tooth that is sideways inside her mouth and her gums are bleeding. We know that she will have to have most, if not all of her teeth extracted. The vet has said they would do x-rays, bloodwork, surgery with 5 days of pain medication and antibiotics for $540.00. We want to get this girl to safety at our vet and get her out of pain. Please help this sweet girl with a tax deductible donation.

Update: We are taking her to the vet tomorrow. Unfortunately, we do not have enough in our emergency funds to cover the surgery. We have had several expensive medical issues in the past 5 months.
Will you help this sweet girl with her mouth injury. We're not sure exactly what happened but she has bleeding gums and a tooth that is sideways in her mouth. She can't eat and action has to be taken quickly. Thank you. (Cat Atrium IS a 501c3)

2-23-18 Itty Bitty Tan Man - Severely emaciated and sick cat

This pitiful little boy was brought here to the sanctuary this evening. They can't afford vet care and they've turned him over to me. I can't afford him either, but I can't let him suffer anymore and I couldn't say no we can't take him knowing that he would just lay somewhere and suffer a horrible death. I will take him to the vets tomorrow but I do not believe it will be a good outcome. I have given him fluids, pain meds, clean bedding, a heating pad and warm AD to fill his stomach. He has no response in any of his four legs nor his tail. His pupils are not working properly. I hate to think how long this cat has laid there starving and suffering before somebody did something.
UPDATE:   little itty bitty tan man made good progress over the day, he actually ate quite a bit on his own which was wonderful to see. He went through a lot today and last night nebulizers, fluids, liver support meds, antibiotics, pain meds, heating pads, expressing his bladder, blood work, x-rays, urinalysis, and a very scary exam this little boy is severely dehydrated and emaciated. his pupils actually started to respond to light and all four feet started to respond to pressure. He is feral and has tried to bite but he's too weak to put up a big fight. it's certainly breaks your heart to know how frightened he must be. I certainly can't understand we're trying to help. we're still worried also that it could be dry FIP causing the neurological issues. But Improvement is not something I generally ever see with any FIP Mega prayers going up for this little guy he is not out of the woods at this time. His little life is so fragile.  UPDATE: Itty bitty tan man is still alive! I thought for sure I was going to lose him last night, he started to throw his head back which is never a good sign. Early this morning when I went in to check again he was doing a little bit better and he was hungry. For those of you that do a lot of rescue I know you know that feeling when your hand touches the doorknob and you're afraid to open the door for fear of what you might see.  Whiskers Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a 501c3

2-28-18 Darcio - senior schnauzer, very ill

Darcio, a sweet and gentle Schnauzer is in need of our help! His story with Home Rescue began when we were contacted by the local shelter after being surrendered and no rescue interest. Everyone deserves a fighting chance and this boy had too much fight left in him to not give him one. So we took him in in hopes of providing him with a better shot at life then what he was previously used to. Darcio was surrendered by his owner without a name and a simple, "he's to old for us." From the state he was in it is likely he suffered years of neglect. He is almost completly blind, emaciated, teeth are rotten, and just in a weakened state. Upon arrival to his new foster home he was walking and still able to hold himself up but back legs were weak. We took him to the vet and ran some blood tests and nothing came back abnormal but vet did recommend a strict diet and some things to help bring his glucose up. At first, Darcio showed improvement but unfortunately he has taken a turn for the worse these past couple days. Today, has been the worst. His worried foster took him to an emergency vet where they temporarily treated him and suggested extensive tests. Vet recommended hospitalization and significant medical attention, attention that is now beyond the ability of our small rescue to afford without your help. Currently, we are home providing him round the clock care with recommendations from the emergency vet until we can get him into our vet. Thus we are reaching out in support from others who feel like we do, that everyone deserves a chance. As weak as this boy is he has not given up and we want to make sure that we do not give up on him either. UPDATE: Darcio is now at the vet staying overnight. He will receive round the clock fluids, antibiotics and pain meds. The vet suspects cancer or a sever infection going on. We hope his body reacts positively to being hospitalized and if so, if we can raise more money we can prolong his stay. Please share with your friends, Darcio says, "Thank you."Please, if you are able, donate and share his campaign and help us give him a shot at a happy ending chapter to his life to make up for his rough beginning. There isn't a guarantee he will make it through in the end but at least he will know he was loved and us here at Home Rescue believed he was more than just an "old dog."  (Home Rescue - house of meows is a 501c3)
