7-2-18 Ban - dog bit by rattlesnake

Early this morning my sons dog Ban was bit by a rattle snake possible green mojave i really need all my rescue friends help the bill is over 2000 i have 2 days to raise funds.

**UPDATE**  BEGGING TO HELP SAVE BANS <3 LIFE..... From Paula Just Now....
I received $25 overnight. Please can anyone help the vet said they will not continue treatment until the $465 is paid this morning when Ban <3 comes back from the ER this morning to them per his vet medical treatment plan how can they say such a thing when his life depends on treatment

UPDATE Sunday Evening.... This evening when Paula went to pick up Ban, they were not going to let her leave with him without paying his balance due. This all happened minutes before closing After Paula spoke with them at great lengths about putting his life at risk, leaving him there unattended and what she was doing was per the vet's direction, they let her take him but said she must pay her balance in the morning when she brings him back or they will not continue treatment. I have attached her bill with an outstanding balance due in the amount of $465.92 that included today's care. Please consider helping her so she can have the funds timely when she walks thru the door tomorrow morning. She is picking Ban <3 up from the ER in the am and should be at Pets R Us shortly after. She covered tonights stay at ER with the last of the PayPal funds she had received. The vet did say Ban <3 is improving but will need to return tomorrow for continued monitoring with the hope that the anti venum will have done it's job by tomorrow after noon as it can take up too 48 hours to take effect.

7-6-18 Justice - Kitten with a bad mouth injury

NEW UPDATE JULY 5..Ok. So where we are at is.. earlier when I spoke w vet..it wasn't good and euthanasia was discussed. However they said they could xray back teeth and back jaw and see if there was ANY chance that it could be repaired....I felt I had to do this before I made the decision...so i chose to proceed w xray....justice is not eating or eating very little which is understandable. It hurts him to swallow. Theres alot of dead necrotic tissue of his jaw that is rotting off. Theres a tooth sticking out not really connected to anything w alot of pus and infection.  Vet just called back and consulted w another vet there that that has more experience w these situations.  They are going to remove the pus from around tooth and then remove the tooth. They could not tell if any bones in back of jaw were broken as his mouth is too small to get proper xray. They seemed more positive this phone call. So..they are going to remove the tooth and cut away some dead tissue on his jaw. He is on antibiotics to remove infection. They will most likely tube feed. Vet said it was very bad, but not as bad as originally thought. They are hoping it will start to heal. Basically it's a day by day situation. He is on pain meds. So I am going to see how things look in a day or so ..and go from there. I will not allow him to suffer.

UPDATE JULY 5...Just spoke with vet. Justice is doing the same. They are getting ready to sedate him again to xray his jaw. So basically no new updates and of right now. But didn't sound too good.

UPDATE: JULY 4... vet just called. Prognosis is questionable at this point...it was caused by blunt force trauma to the face. Per vet, Its NOT consistent with being hit by a car, or a firecracker in his mouth. Someone did this to him. On purpose.

Kittens jaw was broken. He had surgery. She wired the front shut but its the back of the jaw that concerns her. She cannot tell what's going on back there or if any bones are broken. There is overlapping bones so she cannot tell if anything is broken way back in there. Right now he cannot close his mouth. When the other vets and vet techs come in tomorrow they are going to try to get better xrays. We are letting him rest tonight. We will know more tomorrow afternoon.

7-13-18 Hobart - cat with a jaw injury

Hobart is Little Wanderers fourth cat with a broken jaw this year. There is no logical pattern-all are from different NYC locations. And all have been equally devastating (RIP Dorian). Hobart was rescued last weekend. He is rail thin and weighs in at only four pounds. His mandible is split in half. Could be intentional. Could be injury. His chin is also separated from his jaw. He also had a deep gash infested with maggots on his scrotum. That wound was cleaned out and flushed and sewn back together. Hobart is still in the ICU. He can’t regulate his body temperature and blood sugar because he has wasted away to a shell of his former self. He went for so long without help on the Bronx streets with a broken jaw that he withered away to almost nothing. He’s a super friendly and loving cat. Here he is getting head and chin scratches from the veterinarians in the ICU at the Animal Medical Center. Poor Hobart. He can’t eat so he has a feeding tube placed and a teeth bonding that was surgically placed to keep his jaw shut so it can fuse and heal. Had Hobart not found us, his certain death was around the corner. And he’s such a sweetheart-he didn’t deserve this. Hobart deserves a chance at life. His prognosis is good. His bill is over $8,000. Truly any amount helps. (501c3 pending) Little Wanderers NYC: https://www.facebook.com/littlewanderersnyc/

7-13-18 2 very ill cats

Our kitten came here this morning to get emergency eye removal and now I am back here with another emergency. River our feral cat that we trapped over a year ago was found this morning with flies and fly eggs all over him. Working on him now. Thank you Dr. Hardy for admitting him at 1:30 on a busy Friday afternoon.

Poor wee kitten is that the vet right now. The eye ruptured, the kitten is in agonizing pain. When I touched the eye to open it up puss just exploded out of it. Prayers for this little one barely weighs a pound. If you can help with our ever mounting veterinarian bills please even a dollar will help.

7-20-18 Two cats needing homes

This is not something we usually do as The Dollar Club. But,it was one of those times when you see a rescue partner begging and you feel compelled to do something.  So, we helped save their lives with a pledge donation so a rescue would take them. It worked, they are being saved instead of being sent to a kill shelter where the owners were already told they would be killed. This is what the owners wrote....

Hello everyone. I hope that I can find some help. I've been trying to find a home for 2 cats that I can no longer keep. My daughter and I bought them in when our neighbor up and left them. Well we cant keep them. I have had to take my daughter to multiple doctors over her having very bad migraines. She never had them till we got the cats. So unfortunately they have to go. I've been looking since the beginning of June while she is at her father's for the summer. I'm at the point where I'm going to have to take them to the pound where I've been told they will be put down do to over crowding. This is the last chance to find a home. Is anyone able to help me out. They also are not fixed nor (I believe) have had their shots. They are so very loving.

7-23-19 Spirit - puppy hit by car

Emergency funds needed for Spirit, puppy hit by car outside of shelter! We received an emergency plea from a local shelter last night for a boxer mix puppy estimated to be around 10 weeks old. The puppy was reported was running loose in the street and was hit by a car around 7pm last night. Luckily, shelter staff were still on site and were able to take her in immediately to stabilize. The puppy survived the night, but has significant injuries to her skull and jaw. The shelter has released her to ACTB and we are now on the way to get her into a full service vet to save her life. Shelter staff named her Spirit. We have several medical cases at the moment and are in dire need of funds to continue to help these injured animals. If you can help, donations can be made directly to the vet or to the rescue, details below.

7-24-18 Klinger - sick street cat that needs rescuing

One More try to save Scary from the streets of Irvington. I have no problem going to trap him he’s a senior 11 years old FIV positive and can visually see he’s breaking down on the streets. If enough help is at least offered I will go get him. I have already spoken with a sanctuary that put him on a list. Possibly for September. He’s going to be needing blood work, retested, shots, and neuter.
If I can’t get enough help to support him I can’t do it. PS I’ll make him my one save for the year with me till he goes elsewhere. It’s I just can’t afford to pay for his veting

7-28-18 Sent food for a feral cat colony needing help in Kissimmee Florida.  Managed colony by Irene Winchester
7-30-18 Zach - very ill dog

Last August my mom rescued him from a shelter in Orlando.. he was scheduled to be euthanized but we saved him! He has had such a hard life and he was badly mistreated prior to us getting him. He was thrown out of his previous owners vehicle in an apartment complex and watched them drive away. Unfortunately over the the past few days, he has not been eating or drinking & anything he has eaten he has thrown up. He has been very lethargic, not wanting to get up and move around & so this morning we took him to the Vet. The doctor discovered a very large mass in his abdominal area and suspected it was a tumor. After some x-rays, they confirmed that it is a tumor and his spleen is four times the normal size of what it should be and it is bleeding. He is in a great deal of pain and needs emergency surgery or the spleen could rupture and he will bleed out and die. His kidneys are also in bad shape.  This morning (7/30) we had to make the heartbreaking decision to put Zachary down. The tumor that had grown in his stomach had done too much damage to Zach’s kidneys and ultimately they shut down. We waited for 48 excruciating hours to see if there would be an improvement with the IV fluids and lots of rest but instead of getting better, our sweet boys condition deteriorated.. We did everything we could for him but felt as though it was cruel to let him continue to suffer when he has already had such a hard life. We will love him forever & always and cherish the 11 months we got to spend with him, we only wish we could have found him sooner so we could have had longer with him. At this time we have chosen to do a private cremation for him so we can bring him home to rest with us. Our funds have been exhausted with surgery & after-care, medication etc. so we are asking for donations for the cremation so we can send him off the way he deserves.
