6-13-16 Sylvester - very sick cat

We are taking Sylvester to an EMERGENCY VET APPOINTMENT. Since last night he has been vomiting LARGE AMOUNTS of green liquid, won't eat or drink, very weak and when he walks he wobbles.

Sylvester had a urinalysis, blood work, ultra sound, liver aspirate, given IV fluids, anti-nausea shot and antibiotics. He had to be sedated for the aspirate. The results for the aspirate, blood work and urinalysis will not be ready for a couple of days. His ultra sound showed that his liver is completely covered in nodules. No other organs are affected. The aspirate will give a better answer as to what kind of mass/nodules he has. Then treatment will be discussed. The fluids seem to be helping him a little, as he has been purring up a storm and giving us kisses! He is still not eating or drinking on his own, so for the next few days we will be his at home nurses! If more fluids are needed. Dr. Fisher believes he has some kind of internal infection going on as well, and that is why she prescribed antibiotics. We are remaining hopeful for Sylvester! He CAN fight this, and we will be by his side through it all!  We still need LOTS of prayers, and more donations All together your donations added up to $785! So far his vet bills all together have totaled $1,040! We put $155 of our own money towards his bill, and we still owe Garden State Animal Hospital $100. Without you all, Sylvester WOULD NOT have this fighting chance! So for that, we are FURREVER GRATEFUL for each one of you! THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!!!  (Kolony Kats in Philadelphia, Pa)

6-14-16 Cujo - very sick kitten

Cujo came to our rescue (from off a kill list along with 20 others) on June 4th. He was a tiny kitten with his left eye closed shut and a little sniffles. He and the others were brought to the vet a few days later and put on antibiotics and antivirals. Cujo's eye started to improve and his breathing has even been better than the other kittens still in our care.  A couple days ago I noticed him being very picky with eating and I even have heard his stomach gurgling. I had started him on panacur but worry that it is not just worms. As of June 13th I also noticed he was constipated ( and maybe why he was not really eating much?) and by instruction from my vet, I gave him and enema. As the night went on I became extremely concerned about Cujo not eating and it finally clicked that something is just not right with him and he is just too thin and acting too dull. I called Bay State Vet ER in Swansea,Ma and asked if they could check his vitals. The vet tech said that his temp was 98 degrees(which is low), his gums were paler than she would like and that overall he was a concern and that I should go ahead and see the vet, I agreed. The vet examined him and is extremely concerned about "his gut" and that something is not right, she is worried that the intestines have "telescoped themselves" and recc. possibly getting an U/S. She checked him for panleuk(neg) and did bloodwork for his electrolytes and BG(it was fine). He is a tiny 13oz and I am worried for him. He is staying overnight and I am asking for help, please! I do not want him to die.  Cujo's vet is worried he may have a potentially life threatening issue called Intussusception read about it here http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=1+2122&aid=306   He may have an Ultrasound in the morning depending on how he does tonight. If he indeed does have this condition even more funds will need to be raised to save his life. Please help in anyway that you can I don't want to lose him.

6-20-16 Mickey - bladder blockage

Mickey was rushed to our vet this evening when he was unable to urinate. Our closest vet got him right in, but they were unable to express any urine. He was completely blocked, and needed a catheter. They wanted me to take him to the ER since it's the weekend and he would need to stay for 3 days at least, but that would have cost over $2000. Thank goodness he could wait until we got to our other vet..the doc could get him in before closing, and keep him there all weekend. I dropped him off, but as soon as I got back home, the phone rang. The doc said he was unable to unblock him. Mickey's opening is very small and he needed surgery right away (Perineal Urethrostomy Surgery) to make it bigger. 6-24-16 Keller - very ill kitty, liver shutting down

Our blind cat, Keller is seriously ill. He has a massive infection and is currently on oxygen and fluids. We just battled him with an infection two months ago but now he's been rushed into the back is an emergency case. We NEED HELP... his last visit was almost $900 and currently we have nothing.  I didn't know who to turn to... I'm scared and I don't want to lose him. His liver is trying to shut down. UPDATE: Spoke with Dr. Swift, Keller perked up a bit with being on fluids and was grumbling (a titch) at the techs, but didn't have any qualms about Dr. Swift force feeding him (he loves her). They made his kennel more "blind cat friendly" and Dr. Swift gave the newer techs some tips as to how to approach blind cats so they feel less stressed.  (Phaedra & Phriends is not a 501c3).

6-25-16 Eliot - sick cat

I was contacted yesterday for assistance with this cat who was losing a substantial amount of weight, drinking a lot and urinating often.  They just paid a $1,000 bill for their dog and had no money left for Eliot.  The Dollar Club paid $100 to the vet and it was discovered that Eliot is diabetic.  He was admitted to the hospital to get his sugar under control.

6-30-16 Buddha - paralyzed dog with slipped disc needs surgery

Meet Buddha. A fun loving, outgoing Frenchie that LOVES LIFE to the fullest. Recently, Buddha's positive energies have been put to the test when he started limping and lost full movement in his hind end. He was rushed to Savannah, to a very qualified neurologist who performed surgery on a slipped disk. Since surgery Buddha has still been paralyzed on his back end but started showing minor improvements. He did some acupuncture and had a slight bit of feeling in his legs. What was minor is now URGENT, as Buddha is now not doing well. He's been back at the vet since Friday, and while yesterday he was finally able to walk on his own, for short stints, Which is a miracle - but Mom got a call from the neurologist and they believe he slipped a disc now in his neck. He can't lift his head and lost most function in his front end... They are suggesting another surgery. Mom can't afford it all, two surgeries plus therapies ... and she is so heartbroken. I ask anyone and everyone to help in any way they can, to get this littel guy the surgery he desperately needs. Outlook is good after - just lots of recovery time and love.
