3-2-14 Sweetheart - Frozen and shot  (PASSED AWAY)

I got a call from somebody saying they had rescued a poor freezing cat. I sped over to the vet. Sweetheart has fluid in her chest, we're not sure if it's cardiac or pneumonia related. The lady that found her had tried to clean her up because she was filthy, but the shampoo used was an over-the-counter flea shampoo so we are worried about poisoning. Sweetheart was given antibiotics, Lasix, and atropine (to counteract the possible toxicity of the shampoo). She was also given fluids because despite the fluid in her chest she is dehydrated. She was hypothermic but is now warmer thanks to her heating pad. He said not to wash her off until her breathing is better, that the atropine should solve any possible toxicity issues. Also, somebody shot her with a b-b gun and she has a pellet lodged in her chest. Sweetheart is just that - a sweetheart. She has a ready purr and loves to have her head scratched. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, she is still critical and will return to the vet's office Monday morning if she is still with us.

3-7-14 Carmello, hit by car

This poor little guy is named Carmello. He was a stray and was hit by a car. A good Samaritan picked up him and upon examination found he has a broken leg---He will need surgery on the fractured leg and we are helping Carmello to raise the funds he needs for this surgery. He is young and happy and very social with other dogs--he deserves a chance for a great life after what he has been through. If you can help toward Carmello's surgery we would greatly appreciate it.

****Make a note in the memo that this is for Carmello

Sophie has gotten to the point where it is very painful for her to eat, she is losing weight and does not want to groom herself.
Please help Sophie by donating to Furry Friends Rescue Center a non profit 501c3 rescue.

3-10-14 Kitty Whiskers & Zeke - rescued cats with severe problems

We have 2 medical emergencies, Zeke is a black unneutered male who is in very poor shape. He needs one eye removed and we are desperately trying to save the other. He has chronic diarrhea and is thought to be a senior, except for the excellent condition of his teeth, amazingly enough. He is underweight (but has a good appetite) and drinks well. He has visited the vet for his initial check up but treatment will no doubt be costly. I am reaching out to your group for the funds to help.

Then we have Gramma. A 17 year old senior put out of her house and left to die on the street. She is matted (was half shaved at the ACC) has difficulty eating and looks to have a broken toe. I would like to let Gramma enjoy her golden years in a home where she is loved... but again, her medical care is pricey. I am hoping your page can help us save these 2 critical cases.  For more info:  https://www.facebook.com/OliversOrphanOasis

3-10-14 Monkey  - Hit by car

We need your help! This little cutie arrived badly broken. He was hit by a car and has a broken pelvis. He is homeless and currently staying with us at the Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital. We need to call in an orthopedic specialist to fix him. If you are able to donate anything towards his medical bills, please do. Every little bit helps. Nicknamed Monkey because of the ape-like sounds he makes, this little fellow has a fervent love for life. Once healed he will be looking for a forever home. So please do not hesitate to donate and share with everyone. This baby is only about 9 months old and we want to give him the best chance at life. Let's help this sweet boy.

3-14-14 Jeff- pigeon with broken leg

Prayers for Jeff ... he broke his leg a while back ... real bad .... the odds weren't good ... but nice Dr Meredith Vargas at Culpeper Animal Hospital tried to save the leg. Sadly it's not healed well, it's a terrible break up high by the hip. So Jeff is having surgery today and will probably lose the leg. That's bad .... but it's ok ... we have 2 other pigeons who hope on one leg ... and fly just fine. Would you help Jeff pay his bill?

3-19-14  Snow Angel - Seriously Ill

Snow Angel was admitted to the hospital yesterday evening. She just wasn't right and didn't want to eat. We took her to the vet and she stayed overnight for IV fluids and supportive therapy. The doctor thought she might have an intestinal blockage.  They took her to emergency surgery this morning... she was going down hill fast and they wanted to get to the bottom of the issue. She did not have and obstruction but her stomach was very thick and there was undigested food in it. Biopsies were taken. Doctor does not know if the source is a bacterial infection? Still not positive what is causing her decline. She is critical. We just gave permission for a plasma transfusion... we are doing everything we can to save this beautiful girls life.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We need all the good vibes we can get. Snow is a young dog and this has come out of nowhere.

3-20-14 Bowser the burned kitten

Bowser’s owner Casmir reported that he was a victim of animal cruelty from trusted caregivers. After being returned to Casmir, his hair started falling out, and his paws, legs and tail became swollen and inflamed. As Bowser worsened, Casmir sought treatment at an emergency animal hospital. It was determined that Bowser had suffered severe burns caused by scalding water. He was hospitalized and his wounds became apparent. He lost a lot of skin on his legs and feet and had extensive tendon damage in his hind legs.  After hearing what Bowser endured, Dr. Hoffman offered to donate his time to perform the surgery and Rochester Hope for Pets awarded a grant to help. But it is still not enough to cover the cost of  treatment.  Ultimately, both Bowser and Casmir have suffered significantly throughout this horrible ordeal, and there is still a long road ahead. His owner even left his apartment and moved to Rochester to be close to the vet treating him. If you are able to help this little burn victim, please, consider donating toward his care at VSES through Rochester Hope for Pets. Every little donation will go towards his care and treatments while he fights to get better.  You can see updates on his page here:  https://www.facebook.com/bowsertheburnedkitten?ref=ts&fref=ts

3-21-14  Daffodil Prolapse of colon

We joined forces to save 11 pups  from a kill shelter. We lost 2 of the pups and Daffodil is still fighting.  She was released from the vet yesterday & doing pretty well until last night. Apparently all the diarrhea did a number on her & as she tried to go potty last night she had a prolapse, Which is where the Colon actually comes outside the body. I rushed her to the ER vet where she had to stay be cath'ed again, be sedated, & have it pushed back inside her. She did well with it all & is still there recovering & receiving fluids.  She is not out of the woods yet, she has to have X-rays tomorrow to see if everything is holding in place right & may possibly need Major abdominal surgery to put everything back right & keep it there but she is not strong enough for that at this time.  She NEEDS Our help & We NEED yours! So far the vet bill for Parvo treatments is around $850, ER Visit & procedures was $550. & we are not out of woods yet. We know she is going to have to have X-rays, etc. yet to come.

03-28-14  Ruff - Tumor

Ruff's nose above his eye became swollen all of a sudden. The vet thinks it's either something lodged up his nose, cancer, an infection, or aspergillosis, a deadly fungal infection.  Ruff is on an antifungal medicine. A good friend donated the money to treat him for one month but these medications are horribly expensive, if it's even aspergillosis. He's also on an antibiotic which another friend helped me afford. So far, there's been no response from Ruff, except he's eating a little better. The swelling is a big problem because he can barely BREATHE. There's blood coming out of hise nose. Everynight I apply vicks to his nose and run the vaporizer to help him breathe better but he's not sleeping, Unfortunately, without further testing to find out what this is and afford the treatments, I will have no choice but to eventually put him to sleep. That's totally unacceptable for me. Ruff is a good guy! He's fighting through this as best he can. I keep telling him NOT to give up! I just know we can beat this if we just had the cash!  I am a single mom with a disabled son and just don't have the money.  I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.
